These are Xiaomi-published specifications, not a guarantee that every market sells the same configuration. Check Xiaomi’s Global specifications and the listing for your region.
What the display and performance mean
A large screen, but HD+ resolution
The 6.88-inch display gives the Redmi A5 a large viewing area, but its listed resolution is 1640 × 720. That is HD+, not Full HD. Xiaomi says the refresh rate can reach 120Hz in supported apps; the maximum rate does not mean every app or activity runs at 120Hz.
4G rather than 5G
The Global specifications name a Unisoc T7250 octa-core processor and list 4G connectivity, not 5G. If 5G coverage is important, this is not the right model to assume will provide it. Check the published bands for the exact regional version against your carrier’s network.

Memory and storage vary
Xiaomi Global lists configurations up to 4GB physical RAM and 128GB storage. Xiaomi India lists 3GB/64GB and 4GB/128GB versions. Do not assume a seller’s “up to” configuration is the one in stock; confirm the precise RAM and storage variant before ordering.
Battery, charging and durability claims
The 5,200mAh battery figure is typical capacity, and the phone supports 15W charging. Xiaomi’s India page says a 15W charger is included in the box there; Xiaomi cautions that package contents can differ by region. Confirm charger inclusion on the local product listing.
Xiaomi Global advertises up to 20.7 hours of video playback, 14.24 hours of reading and 9.14 hours of gaming, as well as battery endurance of 1,000 charging cycles. These are Xiaomi’s 2025 product claims; they are not independently reproduced test results in the published material cited here. Actual battery life depends on usage and conditions.
For India, Xiaomi publishes an IP52 rating. Treat that as the stated rating, not as waterproofing or permission to submerge the phone. The India page also advertises durability tests for the power button, roller, headphone jack and charging port; those are manufacturer claims, and no independent test report is provided on the cited materials.

Cameras: what Xiaomi claims
The listed hardware is a 32MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. Xiaomi says the rear camera’s larger sensor captures 18% more light than the Redmi A3, based on Xiaomi internal testing in its 2025 product claim. That comparison is not an independent camera test, so it should not be read as a measured guarantee of low-light image quality.

Xiaomi Global also advertises an AnTuTu rating of 260,000+. This is a manufacturer-stated figure, not an independently reproduced benchmark result. It offers a point of reference for Xiaomi’s claim, but does not establish how the phone performs in every app or workload.

Xiaomi Global describes the phone as running Android 15 (Go Edition), while Xiaomi India’s materials describe Android 15. These are market-specific descriptions; use the listing and documentation for the version sold in your country rather than assuming the wording is interchangeable.
For India, Xiaomi says the Redmi A5 will receive two Android major updates and four years of security patch updates. Practical extras: SIM, microSD and headphones
- Wired headphones: The Redmi A5 has a 3.5mm headphone jack. Xiaomi Global lists FM radio support with headphones.
- Expandable storage: Xiaomi lists microSD support. Xiaomi India’s FAQ says expansion is supported up to 2TB, but card compatibility can vary; check the exact model and card listing.
- Dual SIM: Xiaomi Global lists dual SIM support. Confirm the SIM and microSD arrangement for the local version if you need to use both SIMs and a memory card at once.
What to verify before you buy
Prices, stock and included accessories are not established by Xiaomi’s specifications pages, and those pages do not provide an independent, like-for-like comparison with alternative phones. Use your local seller’s listing to confirm the details that can change by market or variant:
- Exact RAM and storage configuration, plus whether the listing names physical RAM.
- Local price, seller identity and warranty terms.
- Network bands and carrier compatibility for your region.
- Whether a charger and protective case are included. Xiaomi India lists both a 15W charger and a protective case, but contents may differ elsewhere.
- Local software version, update commitment and any published IP rating.
- For microSD, the supported card arrangement and compatibility with the phone variant.
India-specific details are available on Xiaomi’s Redmi A5 India product page; do not transfer those package, rating or update details to another market without checking its documentation.
