Neither chip wins every benchmark. In Gizmochina’s retail-phone comparison, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 led in AnTuTu total and Geekbench multi-core, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 led in Geekbench single-core and AnTuTu UX. A separate comparison found similarly close CPU results and mixed graphics results, but used a Qualcomm reference design for the 8s Gen 4 and retail phones for the 8 Gen 3. Treat the scores as results from particular devices and test setups—not guaranteed scores for every phone with these processors.
Benchmark results: which chip leads each test?
Gizmochina tested a Redmi Turbo 4 with Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 against a Poco F7 Pro with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Its 2025 results show narrow leads in some headline tests and larger differences in individual subtests. The numbers below are publisher-reported scores from those phones; they are not a controlled comparison of the chips in identical hardware.
| Benchmark | Redmi Turbo 4 Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 |
Poco F7 Pro Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 |
Higher score |
|---|---|---|---|
| AnTuTu total | 2,050,881 | 2,027,831 | Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 |
| AnTuTu CPU | 460,339 | 415,769 | Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 |
| AnTuTu GPU | 852,942 | 820,344 | Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 |
| AnTuTu memory | 410,236 | 399,910 | Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 |
| AnTuTu UX | 327,364 | 391,808 | Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 |
| Geekbench single-core | 2,041 | 2,213 | Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 |
| Geekbench multi-core | 6,833 | 6,652 | Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 |
Gizmochina’s comparison therefore does not support a blanket claim that one processor is faster in every category. AnTuTu total slightly favored the 8s Gen 4, but the 8 Gen 3 posted the higher UX and single-core scores. A benchmark lead also does not, by itself, establish that a phone will feel faster in everyday use.
Why another comparison gives a different picture
Notebookcheck reported results attributed to Geekerwan in 2025. Its Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 scores came from a Qualcomm Reference Design (QRD), while its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 CPU comparison used a Xiaomi 14 retail phone.

| Test | Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 Qualcomm Reference Design |
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Xiaomi 14 retail phone |
|---|---|---|
| Geekerwan single-core | 2,263 | 2,213 |
| Geekerwan multi-core | 7,414 | 7,454 |
| 3DMark Wild Life Extreme | 5,100 | 5,214 |
In that CPU comparison, the 8s Gen 4 was slightly ahead in single-core and the 8 Gen 3 slightly ahead in multi-core. The 8 Gen 3 also led the reported Wild Life Extreme score; Notebookcheck said the 8s Gen 4 narrowly led in Steel Nomad Light. It reported slightly higher frame rates and smaller drops in selected games on the 8s Gen 4 QRD than on a OnePlus Ace 3 Pro, another device-specific result rather than a universal gaming guarantee.
Reference design is not the same as a retail phone
A QRD is Qualcomm’s reference-design hardware, and Notebookcheck cautions that it can show best-case chipset performance. Retail phones differ in cooling, power limits, memory, software, and other implementation choices. The QRD-versus-retail results should not be combined with Gizmochina’s Redmi Turbo 4-versus-Poco F7 Pro scores as though they came from one standardized test.

What the platform specifications say
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 product brief lists a 64-bit Kryo CPU with a prime core up to 3.2 GHz and performance cores up to 3.0 GHz, built on a 4 nm process. Qualcomm lists support for LPDDR5x memory up to 4800 MHz and UFS 4.0 storage. These are platform capabilities; the exact memory and storage in a phone depend on its manufacturer.
The same brief lists Wi-Fi 7 with peak speed up to 5.8 Gbps, Bluetooth Core Specification 6.0, and modem downlink up to 4.2 Gbps. It also lists device display support up to WQHD+ at 144 Hz, external display support up to 4K at 60 Hz, photo capture up to 320 megapixels, and 4K HDR video capture at 60 frames per second. Those figures describe supported capabilities, not features guaranteed in every handset.

Gizmochina describes the 8s Gen 4 as using a 1+7 CPU layout with Cortex-X4 and Cortex-A720 cores, and the 8 Gen 3 as using a 1+5+2 layout that includes Cortex-A520 efficiency cores. It also reports maximum modem download rates of 4.2 Gbps for the 8s Gen 4 and 10 Gbps for the 8 Gen 3, and video recording support of 4K/60 fps versus 8K/30 fps, respectively. Treat these as reported platform distinctions: check the phone maker’s specification sheet for the capabilities of a particular model.
Qualcomm’s brief says that its comparisons are against the previous-generation Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and that results vary with OEM implementation and other factors. It does not provide a direct 8s Gen 4 versus 8 Gen 3 benchmark comparison.

Which chip should you choose?
For benchmark scores
The answer depends on the test. In Gizmochina’s named-phone comparison, the 8s Gen 4 led AnTuTu total and Geekbench multi-core; the 8 Gen 3 led Geekbench single-core and AnTuTu UX. Notebookcheck’s differently configured comparison also produced mixed CPU and graphics results. There is no universal winner established by these results.
For gaming and sustained performance
Do not choose from a peak score alone. The cited game results come from selected devices and conditions, and the retail phones’ cooling and power behavior can differ from a reference design. For a specific model, look for sustained-load testing of that phone and the games you play, not just a brief benchmark run.

For connectivity, camera, and display features
Compare the exact phone specifications against the features you need. The 8s Gen 4 brief states platform support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and up to 4.2 Gbps modem downlink, but implementation is up to the manufacturer. The reported 8 Gen 3 distinctions in modem peak rate and video recording do not guarantee that a given 8 Gen 3 handset includes those capabilities.
For a purchase decision
Compare complete phones rather than processor names alone. Price and availability, cooling, display, cameras, software support, and the manufacturer’s implementation can matter more to your experience than a small gap in one benchmark. The scores cited here do not establish current prices, availability, software versions, or a broad same-lab result across multiple phones.
