You can delete NVIDIA MessageBus logs in Windows 11 or 10 by locating the specific log files under C:ProgramData, preserving a copy if they may be needed for troubleshooting, and removing only those files. The location is not confirmed to be universal, and NVIDIA’s available documentation does not provide an official MessageBus-log deletion procedure.
Before deleting the logs
NVIDIA product logs can help support agents diagnose problems. If you are investigating an NVIDIA issue or have an open support case, copy the logs somewhere safe before removing them. NVIDIA’s documentation describes logs used for troubleshooting, but it does not specifically confirm that deleting MessageBus logs is safe or prescribe how to do it. NVIDIA support documentation

Find and delete the confirmed MessageBus log files
- Open the NVIDIA folders: In File Explorer, enter
C:ProgramDatain the address bar. If you do not see the NVIDIA folders, check File Explorer’s hidden-items setting;ProgramDatais commonly hidden. - Inspect the likely locations: Look under
C:ProgramDataNVIDIAandC:ProgramDataNVIDIA Corporationfor aMessageBusLogsfolder or clearly identifiable MessageBus log files. Folder names can differ, so do not delete files just because they are somewhere in an NVIDIA directory. - Back up logs needed for diagnosis: Copy the confirmed log files to another folder if you might need to share them with support or investigate a recurring problem.
- Delete only the logs: Select the confirmed MessageBus log files and delete them. Do not delete the entire NVIDIA folder, other ProgramData contents, or driver folders.
If Windows says a file is in use
Third-party guides suggest stopping relevant NVIDIA container services before deleting locked files. The service names may vary or may not be present on your PC; do not stop services by guesswork.

- Open the Services app from the Start menu and inspect the listed services for a clearly relevant NVIDIA container service, such as NVIDIA Display Container LS or LocalSystem Container.
- If you can verify that the service is relevant and the log is locked, stop that service temporarily, then retry deleting only the confirmed log files.
- Start any service you stopped again, or restart the PC after cleanup.
Service names and availability depend on the local installation. If you cannot identify a relevant service confidently, leave the files in place rather than stopping unrelated services.
If the logs return or keep growing
Deleting logs is cleanup, not a fix for whatever is generating them. The sources do not establish an official NVIDIA setting to disable or limit MessageBus logging, nor do they establish that Storage Sense or Disk Cleanup reliably removes these files. If the logs quickly reappear or grow rapidly, keep a copy and investigate the underlying NVIDIA issue rather than repeatedly deleting them.
