Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteYou can tell Facebook to show you fewer unwanted Reels and tailor what appears in Feed, but the official controls described here do not provide a switch that permanently removes every Reel or the Reels tab from the app. To act on one Reel, open its three-dot menu and choose Show Less or, if that is the label shown, Not interested. The other options below let you adjust Feed preferences or hide a particular story or its source.
What you can—and can’t—turn off
Facebook’s documented controls let you influence recommendations and Feed content. They are not a global Reels-off setting: Meta describes the Reels-specific Show Less effect as temporary, and Facebook Help does not document a setting that permanently removes Reels throughout the app.
The distinction matters because Reels can appear in Feed as well as in the app’s Reels area. Facebook Help says the Videos tab was renamed the Reels tab in June 2025. Meta also announced that videos posted to Facebook would be shared as Reels as the change rolled out, so the Reels label can cover video content beyond what users may previously have thought of as short clips. The rollout was announced on June 17, 2025; it was not described as taking effect for every account at once. Four ways to reduce or manage Reels
1. Tell Facebook you want less of a Reel
- Find the Reel in Feed or the Reels area.
- Tap its three-dot menu.
- Choose Show Less or Not interested, if that option appears.
Meta announced the Reels-specific Show More and Show Less controls in 2023. It says choosing Show Less temporarily decreases the ranking score for that Reel and similar Reels. That is a recommendation signal, not a promise that the Reel—or similar content—will disappear. Labels can differ by feature or app version: Meta’s Feed guidance says the earlier Show more/Show less labels were later changed to Interested/Not interested, while its Reels announcement uses Show More/Show Less. - A more natural connection. Smart Camera adjusts automatically so you can move freely and stay in frame, while Smart Sound ensures you can easily be heard.
- Call anyone, anywhere. Use apps like Messenger and WhatsApp to connect with friends and family—even if they don’t have a Meta Portal.
- Designed for the home. With a sleek picture frame design, quick setup and intuitive voice and touchscreen controls, Portal fits easily and seamlessly into your home.
- Privacy by design. Easily disable the camera and microphone, or block the lens with the camera cover.
2. Adjust your Feed preferences
Use Facebook’s Feed preferences to influence which stories appear in Feed. The controls can help tailor Feed, but they do not amount to a setting that disables Reels throughout the app. Facebook Help documents Feed preferences and related controls; the exact labels and navigation may vary by device, account, region, or app version. 3. Hide an unwanted Feed story or reduce posts from its source
If a particular Reel appears as a Feed story, use the story’s menu to hide it, if that option is available. Facebook also documents controls for seeing fewer posts from a person, Page, or group. Hiding a story targets that item; reducing posts from its source affects content from that source. Neither is a general-purpose Reels switch. Facebook Help: Adjust your Facebook Feed preferences

4. Choose the Feed area you want to browse
Facebook’s Feeds area gives you a way to view Feed content more deliberately rather than relying only on the main Feed’s recommendations. It does not remove the Reels tab or prevent Reels from appearing elsewhere. Facebook Help describes Reels as available in Feed and in the Reels section, so changing where you browse should be understood as a navigation choice, not a permanent content filter. Which option fits your goal?
| Goal | Control | Scope and effect |
|---|---|---|
| See fewer similar recommendations | Show Less or Not interested on a Reel | Signals a preference; Meta says the Show Less ranking effect is temporary. |
| Tailor Feed generally | Feed preferences | Influences Feed content, not all Reels across the app. |
| Stop seeing one story or less from its source | Hide the story or reduce posts from its person, Page, or group | Applies to that story or source, not to Reels as a format. |
| Browse Feed content more deliberately | Use the Feeds area | Changes how you browse; does not remove the Reels tab or disable Reels. |
Why the menu may look different
Facebook’s controls and navigation can vary by app version, device, region, and account. In particular, the wording may be Show Less/Show More or Not interested/Interested depending on the control you are using. If a named option is not visible, do not assume there is a hidden global switch: the official guidance described here does not establish one. The Videos tab’s rename to Reels in June 2025 also means older instructions referring to a Videos tab may no longer match the app.

- A more natural connection. Smart Camera adjusts automatically so you can move freely and stay in frame, while Smart Sound ensures you can always be heard.
- Great sound anywhere. Listen to music with a speaker that can fill any room. Doubles as a portable Bluetooth speaker around the home.
These options address recommendations and Feed stories, not autoplay. The official guidance cited here does not establish current iPhone or Android steps for turning Reels autoplay off, so avoid relying on a generic menu path as if it were confirmed for your app version.
