On the console, open Settings > Network > Settings > Set Up Internet Connection and select the hotel network. If How to Authenticate appears, use a phone or laptop to join the temporary PS5 network shown on screen and complete the hotel’s sign-in there. The exact portal and screens vary by property.
Why a PS5 can say it is connected but have no internet
Connecting to a Wi-Fi network and being authorized to use its internet are separate steps. A hotel may let the PS5 associate with its wireless network, then require a room number, voucher, terms acceptance, or other sign-in through a portal. Until that step is complete, the console can appear connected without having internet access.
Hotel portals differ, and the console’s menu behavior can vary by system software. Use the hotel’s own prompts rather than assuming every property presents the same page.
How to connect a PS5 to hotel Wi-Fi
- On the PS5, go to Settings > Network > Settings > Set Up Internet Connection.
- Select the hotel’s Wi-Fi network (SSID). If the property provides a Wi-Fi password, enter it when prompted. If it has multiple networks, confirm you chose the correct one.
- Follow the console prompts. If How to Authenticate appears, select it and continue with the phone-assisted steps below.
PlayStation recommends checking that the selected SSID, password, and security method are correct if setup fails. You can also check PlayStation’s internet connection setup guidance and its service status.

How to authenticate your PS5 on hotel Wi-Fi with a phone or laptop
- On the PS5, choose How to Authenticate, if that option is available. The console should show a temporary network name and password.
- On a phone or laptop, open Wi-Fi settings and connect to the temporary network named by the PS5. Enter the password displayed on the console.
- Follow the hotel sign-in page that opens on the phone or laptop. Provide the details the property requires, such as a room number or voucher, or accept its terms.
- Return to the PS5 and check whether it now has internet access. If it does not, run the console’s connection test and see which step is failing.
Alberta Health Services documents a similar phone-or-laptop authentication flow for its managed hospital Wi-Fi; a third-party video describes the method for hotel Wi-Fi. These sources illustrate the approach, but do not establish that every hotel portal or PS5 software version will show identical screens. If “How to Authenticate” does not appear
Check the PS5’s Wi-Fi frequency-band setting and try the band supported by the hotel. Alberta Health Services recommends 2.4 GHz for its managed network; that is a property-specific troubleshooting clue, not a universal hotel requirement. If the option remains unavailable, contact the hotel’s Wi-Fi support and ask whether the console needs device registration or whether the property limits the number or type of devices guests can connect.

If the hotel sign-in succeeds but online services still fail
Run the PS5 connection test and check PlayStation service status. If the console has internet access but gaming services do not work, ask hotel support whether its network restricts gaming traffic or other services. Successful portal sign-in does not guarantee that multiplayer or every online feature will work.
PlayStation states that PS5 supports IPv6 but does not support IPv6-only network connections. A guest generally cannot change the configuration of hotel-managed network equipment, so ask the property’s support team if the connection appears to be affected by that limitation.

Other ways to get a PS5 online at a hotel
If the built-in authentication flow does not work, these alternatives may help, but none is guaranteed. Follow hotel terms and device limits; do not use another connection method to bypass paid access or network rules.
