NVIDIA’s SHIELD Experience 9.2.4 is a free software update focused on January 2026 security patches and bug fixes—not a major new feature release. NVIDIA lists fixes for Disney+ playback, remote connections, sleep behavior, Bluetooth disconnections, and Settings crashes. The release-notes page lists 9.2.4 as its newest displayed version.
What SHIELD Experience 9.2.4 changes
NVIDIA’s SHIELD software and firmware release notes list these changes for version 9.2.4:
- Security: Security patches updated to January 2026.
- Disney+: A playback issue was resolved.
- Xbox remote connections: A third-party remote connection issue with Xbox after sleep mode was resolved.
- Sleep and HDMI-CEC: A crash issue that could wake SHIELD and HDMI-CEC devices during sleep mode was resolved.
- Bluetooth remotes: Frequent disconnections of third-party Bluetooth remotes were addressed.
- Settings: A problem that closed Settings when NVIDIA Share was triggered over the Settings page was resolved.
NVIDIA’s forum announcement dates the release to February 25, 2026, and identifies build 33.2.0.400. The release notes describe the changes above but do not announce a major new user-facing feature in 9.2.4.
How to check for and enable SHIELD TV updates
NVIDIA says updates are pushed directly to SHIELD TV, with an on-screen notification when an update is available. Its SHIELD TV FAQ lists SHIELD TV (2019) and SHIELD TV Pro (2019) as product models. The FAQ was updated January 15, 2026, before 9.2.4 was released; it explains the general update process, not this update’s current availability for every device.

| 9.2 | AURO-3D high-resolution immersive sound playback over HDMI on SHIELD TV Pro with an AURO-3D-compatible decoder; Match Audio Content resolution support with a USB DAC; a Match Frame Rate (beta) enhancement; French parental controls; and a 4K DRM playback security enhancement. NVIDIA also lists various bug fixes. |
| 9.2.2 | Accessibility additions, including pairing alert sounds for the SHIELD Remote and Controller, Bounce Keys, Accessibility Key Repeat, an accessibility-timeout setting, and TalkBack text-to-speech support in 23 European languages. NVIDIA also lists a Disney+ audio-dropout fix. |
| 9.2.4 | January 2026 security patches and the playback, remote, sleep, Bluetooth, and Settings fixes described above. |
In particular, AURO-3D is not a 9.2.4 addition: NVIDIA lists it under 9.2 and says it requires SHIELD TV Pro connected to a compatible decoder. The accessibility improvements and Disney+ audio-dropout fix are listed under 9.2.2, not 9.2.4.

NVIDIA’s setup guidance says 4K or HDR configurations need an HDMI 2.0-compatible cable. For a 4K HDR connection routed through an AV receiver or soundbar, that device must support HDMI 2.0 with HDCP 2.2. These are connection requirements, not changes introduced by 9.2.4.
