Its headline addition was DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution support, alongside fixes for Arena Breakout: Infinite stability and several display and NVIDIA Control Panel issues. It is not the newest driver: NVIDIA’s results list later releases, including 596.21 from April 16, 2026. Check NVIDIA’s live driver page for a current recommendation before installing.
What NVIDIA 591.74 adds
NVIDIA’s January 5, 2026 announcement introduced DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution, which uses a second-generation transformer model. NVIDIA said the feature was available that day and described it as improving image quality in over 400 games and apps. That figure is NVIDIA’s announcement-time count, not an independent measurement or a current total.
The same announcement distinguished the available Super Resolution feature from 6X Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, which NVIDIA said was planned for spring. The latter was not presented as a feature available with the January 5 launch.
NVIDIA also reported that DLSS 4 was supported in over 250 games and apps at that point. Both game-count figures reflect NVIDIA’s January 2026 statements.

Fixes listed in the 591.74 release notes
NVIDIA’s 591.74 release page lists these issues as fixed:
- Gaming: Stability issues in Arena Breakout: Infinite (reference 5748974).
- General: Brightness adjustment issues on various displays (5739739).
- General: Colors not applying correctly when using Digital Vibrance (5718365).
- General: Slight banding on gradients in SDR color mode (5720512).
- General: Inability to deselect “Show Notification Tray Icon” in NVIDIA Control Panel (5622213).
- General: RTX HDR in Vulkan games causing a black screen on LG OLED TVs (5763163).
These are fixes NVIDIA says the driver addresses; the release notes do not guarantee that every instance of an issue will be resolved or establish that the driver has no other bugs.

Should you install 591.74?
Because NVIDIA has published newer drivers since this release, 591.74 is not a general recommendation for a new installation. If you are troubleshooting one of the listed issues or need the DLSS 4.5 feature as it was announced in January 2026, compare this version with NVIDIA’s current driver guidance and your system’s compatibility before choosing.
- Check that the driver supports your exact GPU and Windows version.
- Consider whether one of the listed fixes addresses a problem you actually experience.
- Confirm that a game or workflow needs the DLSS feature associated with this release.
- If you use a notebook, check the manufacturer’s recommended software updates; NVIDIA says notebook OEMs provide certified drivers for specific notebook GPUs.
- Check NVIDIA’s live results for newer drivers before installing an older release.
The release page lists Windows 10 64-bit and Windows 11. NVIDIA directs users to its driver download site or the NVIDIA app; its January 2026 announcement also referred to a new NVIDIA app beta for enabling DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution. App versions and feature availability can change, so use NVIDIA’s present instructions rather than assuming that launch-era setup still applies.

Compatibility and download checks
Use NVIDIA’s 591.74 driver page to review the supported-products list and release notes. For a current driver recommendation, use NVIDIA’s live download page and select the exact GPU and operating system. Notebook owners should also consult their laptop maker’s driver guidance.
NVIDIA’s release notes establish the advertised fixes and supported operating systems, but they do not provide benchmark results showing a performance uplift from 591.74. This release is best evaluated as a dated feature-and-fix update, not as proof of a specific frame-rate gain.
