Windows 25 is not a Microsoft operating system. The name refers to a design-concept video by AR 4789, highlighted by BetaNews in January 2025. It imagines a redesigned Windows interface; it is not an announced Windows release or an operating system you can download and install.
What is Windows 25?
Windows 25 is the name used for AR 4789’s hypothetical Windows interface in a concept video. BetaNews’s January 8, 2025 article presented it as a video, not as a Microsoft product announcement. The headline’s “new Microsoft OS” phrasing is playful, not evidence that Microsoft released an operating system called Windows 25. Read the BetaNews article.
Microsoft’s Windows product page identifies Windows 11 and does not list a Windows 25 product. That supports the distinction between the concept and Microsoft’s product lineup; it does not establish anything about unannounced future plans. See Microsoft’s Windows page.
What does the Windows 25 concept look like?
The video imagines a minimalist Windows interface with floating widgets, an AI-powered search bar, redesigned Settings screens, and a mouse-swipe method for changing wallpapers. These are elements depicted in a design concept, not features made available as part of Windows 25.

Can you download or install Windows 25?
No. The original concept was a video, not an installable operating system. BetaNews made that distinction explicit in a March 21, 2025 follow-up, which discussed a separate Windows 11 theme project rather than an installation of Windows 25. Read the follow-up.
Is there a Windows 25 theme for Windows 11?
A separate project assembled a Windows 11 theme using third-party tools and files. It is not the concept video made installable, and using a theme does not turn Windows 11 into Windows 25. The 2025 follow-up named a theme tool and file, 7tsp, StartAllBack, and ExplorerBlurMica. Those historical instructions do not establish that the tools remain safe, compatible, or suitable for current Windows builds, so they should not be treated as up-to-date installation guidance.

Does Windows 25 confirm that Windows 12 is coming?
No. A concept video cannot confirm a Microsoft product or release plan. BetaNews wrote in January 2025 that Windows 12 had not yet been confirmed at that time; that dated statement should not be read as a guarantee about Microsoft’s plans in October 2026. Neither the Windows 25 name nor the video establishes that Windows 12 will ship or look like the concept.
