To change Chrome’s documented cookie setting on a computer, open More → Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies, then choose whether to allow or block them. On Android, go to More → Settings → Site settings → Third-party cookies. These controls are for third-party cookies—not a single master switch for all site data. On iPhone and iPad, Google’s instructions document how to delete cookies and site data, but do not provide a global allow/block toggle.
Choose the right cookie action
Chrome’s allow/block setting covers third-party cookies. First-party site data is managed separately through Chrome’s on-device site-data controls. Deleting stored cookies is also a separate action: it can sign you out of websites and remove saved preferences.

Change third-party-cookie settings on a computer
- Open Chrome and select More (the three-dot menu).
- Select Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies.
- Choose Allow third-party cookies or Block third-party cookies.
Allow one site while blocking by default
In the same settings area, add the site under Sites allowed to use third-party cookies. You can also use the site-information control beside the address bar to temporarily allow third-party cookies for the current site. Google says a temporary allowance during regular browsing is added to exceptions for 90 days or until you turn it off; in Incognito, it lasts only for that session. After the page reloads, the address bar indicates whether third-party cookies are allowed or blocked for the site. See Google Chrome Help for computer.
Change third-party-cookie settings on Android
- Open Chrome and tap More (the three-dot menu).
- Tap Settings → Site settings → Third-party cookies.
- Choose Allow third-party cookies, Block third-party cookies in Incognito mode, or Block third-party cookies.
To make an exception, add the site from the Third-party cookies settings. The page-information control beside the address bar also offers a temporary control for the current site. Menu labels may vary with Chrome updates. Google’s Android cookie instructions describe these controls.

What you can do on iPhone and iPad
Google’s retrieved Chrome instructions for iPhone and iPad document deleting cookies and site data, not a global setting to allow or block cookies. To delete stored data:
- Open Chrome and tap More → Settings → Privacy and security → Delete browsing data.
- Select Cookies, site data.
- Confirm the deletion.
Deleting this data can sign you out and remove saved preferences. See Google Chrome Help for iPhone and iPad.

If a website or sign-in stops working
Google Chrome Help warns, “If you don’t allow sites to save cookies, sites may not work as expected.” If a site on your computer or Android device needs third-party cookies, first try allowing that site with an exception or the site-level control rather than changing the default for every site.
For a third-party sign-in problem, Google Account Help recommends allowing cookies and retrying the sign-in. If it still fails, its suggestions include opening a new browser window, clearing cache and cookies, trying a private browsing window, or changing privacy settings. Clearing cookies is more disruptive than making a site exception: it may sign you out and remove saved preferences. See Google Account Help for computer sign-in issues.
