To add or remove someone commonly called an “admin,” switch into the Facebook Page and open Settings & privacy > Settings > Page setup > Page access. You need Facebook access with full control to manage other people’s Page access. Meta’s current settings distinguish Facebook access from task access, so the exact permissions may not be labeled “admin.”
What “admin” means in Facebook’s current settings
“Admin” remains common shorthand, but Meta’s Page settings use Page access and distinguish between Facebook access and task access. Meta’s Help Center says someone with Facebook access and full control can manage other people’s Facebook access or task access to the Page. The cited guidance does not provide a complete feature-by-feature comparison of these permission types, so don’t assume task access is equivalent to full control. Meta: Give, edit or remove Facebook Page access.
Before you change someone’s access
- You must have Facebook access with full control of the Page to manage other people’s access.
- You must switch into the Page before opening its access settings.
- Meta says Page access cannot be given to a gray account. The person should use a personal Facebook account or create a new account.
Find the Page access settings
- Log in to Facebook and click your profile photo in the top-right corner.
- Choose See all profiles, then select the Page you want to manage.
- From the Page profile, open Settings & privacy, then Settings.
- Go to Page setup, then Page access. Meta’s Help Center uses these labels in its navigation instructions: See your Facebook Page role or access.
Add or remove someone’s Page access
On the Page access screen, use the options and prompts Facebook currently displays to add, edit, or remove Facebook access or task access. Meta confirms that people with Facebook access and full control can manage these access types, but the cited help excerpts do not establish every button label or confirmation step. Follow the prompts shown in your account rather than relying on instructions for an older interface.
What removing Page access does—and does not establish
Removing someone’s access through the Page access settings addresses their access to that Page. The available Meta guidance does not establish whether this also removes separately assigned access to a business portfolio, advertising account, Instagram account, or other business assets. If the person may have access through those separate assignments, review those permissions independently rather than assuming the Page change revokes them.
