What ended after September 30, 2026, was Samsung Gallery’s direct photo sync with Microsoft OneDrive. That change does not mean Samsung Cloud shut down or that photos already stored in OneDrive were deleted.
What is still available in Samsung Cloud?
Samsung describes Samsung Cloud as a service for syncing information linked to a Samsung account and backing up or restoring device data. The specific items available can vary by Galaxy model and operating system.
Account synchronization
Samsung lists categories such as Calendar and Contacts saved to a Samsung account, Samsung Browser, Samsung Notes, Samsung Health, Samsung Pass, Gallery, Reminder, Galaxy Avatar, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. The Gallery listing in Samsung’s general service description should not be confused with the ended direct connection between Samsung Gallery and OneDrive.
Device backup and restore
Samsung’s examples of device data that can be backed up or restored include Calendar and Contacts, call logs, clock settings, messages, Home screen layout, apps, device settings, and voice recordings. Check the options shown on your own device, since support varies by model and OS. See Samsung’s Samsung Cloud service description.

What changed with Samsung Gallery and OneDrive?
Microsoft says Samsung Gallery stopped syncing directly with OneDrive after September 30, 2026. As of October 8, 2026, that deadline has passed. Files already stored in OneDrive remain accessible through OneDrive or devices with the OneDrive app installed; they no longer appear in Samsung Gallery through the ended integration. Microsoft’s notice was last updated May 14, 2026: Changes to Samsung Gallery sync and OneDrive.
The former integration was not available to every user: Microsoft says it depended on market, carrier, and device model, and supported personal OneDrive accounts. Its legacy guidance also describes the connection as bidirectional, meaning edits or deletions could carry between Gallery and OneDrive. Before removing or reorganizing synced files, make sure you have another copy. See Microsoft’s Samsung Gallery and OneDrive guidance.

How to keep backing up new Galaxy photos
For automatic uploads of new photos and videos, Microsoft directs users to OneDrive Camera backup. This uploads to the selected Microsoft account; it is a camera-backup workflow, not a promise that OneDrive behaves exactly like the old Gallery integration.
- Open the OneDrive app and sign in to the Microsoft account where you want the photos stored.
- Open your account profile and select Camera backup.
- Choose the correct account and turn Camera backup on.
- Allow access to photos and videos if prompted.
If uploads do not appear, check that the intended account is selected, photo and video permissions are granted, the device has connectivity, and the account has available storage quota. Microsoft’s current instructions are on its Gallery sync and OneDrive changes page.

Can you retrieve older Samsung Cloud Gallery Sync or Drive files?
Possibly, but availability and deadlines depend on region and account status. Samsung Gulf’s support page, last updated June 9, 2026, describes migration to OneDrive or downloading data to a personal device for local storage or transfer to another cloud service. It also describes staged transition dates that vary by region and deletion after transition completion. Because that page applies to Samsung Gulf guidance, check the notice for your own region before assuming migration or retrieval remains available: Samsung Gulf’s Gallery Sync and Samsung Cloud changes.
If you choose a local download, confirm that your phone or computer can store and open the files. An external drive may be an option, but check the device port and file compatibility before buying or transferring anything.
