If you installed NVIDIA GeForce driver 595.59 WHQL and are having fan-control problems, NVIDIA’s February 26, 2026 advice was to roll back to driver 591.86 WHQL. NVIDIA later said it resolved the issue and released 595.71 WHQL, so that rollback warning applies to the withdrawn 595.59 release—not to every GeForce user today.
What happened with the Resident Evil Requiem driver?
NVIDIA identified a bug in both the Game Ready and Studio editions of driver 595.59 WHQL and temporarily removed their downloads while it investigated. The Game Ready release was intended to support Resident Evil Requiem’s path-traced effects, DLSS Ray Reconstruction, and DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation on GeForce RTX 50 Series cards. NVIDIA’s notice identified fan-control trouble as the issue behind its rollback guidance; it did not establish that the bug physically damaged GPUs.
On March 2, 2026, NVIDIA updated its announcement to say the issue was resolved and that it had released a new version. The page identifies GeForce Game Ready driver 595.71 WHQL as the replacement. See NVIDIA’s announcement and its dated updates.
Should you roll back, and which driver should you use?
| Your situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| You installed 595.59 WHQL and have fan-control problems | NVIDIA’s February 26 instruction was to roll back to 591.86 WHQL. |
| You did not install 595.59, or have no fan-control problem from it | The notice’s rollback instruction was not directed at you. Check NVIDIA’s current driver information rather than treating the old warning as general advice. |
| You need the corrected Resident Evil Requiem release | NVIDIA’s March 2 update identifies 595.71 WHQL as the replacement for the 595.59 episode. |
NVIDIA’s exact February 26 guidance was: “For users that have already installed this driver and are experiencing issues with fan control, please roll back to 591.86 WHQL.” The advice was conditional: it applied to people who had installed 595.59 and were experiencing the specified symptom.

How to reinstall the previous driver in the NVIDIA App
- Open the NVIDIA App and select the Drivers tab.
- Find the driver entry and click its three-dot menu.
- Choose the option to reinstall the previous driver, then follow the on-screen prompts. For the 595.59 fan-control issue, NVIDIA named 591.86 WHQL as the rollback target.
If the previous-driver option is unavailable, check NVIDIA’s official driver download page for the relevant driver and instructions. Download availability can change, so use NVIDIA’s current listing rather than relying on an old download link.
Do not confuse the later 595.76 graphics issue with the 595.59 bug
NVIDIA’s later 595.76 hotfix information describes a separate Resident Evil Requiem visual issue: white glowing lights or dots when subsurface scattering is enabled. That is not the fan-control bug NVIDIA associated with 595.59. If your symptoms are visual artifacts rather than fan-control trouble, identify the driver and setting involved before choosing a fix. See NVIDIA’s 595.76 hotfix information.

Playing without a GeForce RTX PC
NVIDIA lists GeForce NOW Ultimate as a way to play Resident Evil Requiem through cloud streaming on web-connected devices. It is an access alternative, not a fix for a local 595.59 driver issue. Check NVIDIA’s current game catalog, regional availability, and membership details before relying on the service.
