You can join a Zoom meeting directly on a TV only with a supported setup: Zoom documents its Zoom for Home TV app for Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later), certain Sony BRAVIA TVs, and Sky Glass. Each route has specific camera and software requirements. If you have a different TV, you may be able to share content to a Zoom Rooms display, but that is not the same as running Zoom on any smart TV.
Choose the right way to use Zoom on a TV
First decide whether you want to join the meeting using the TV, or show content from a phone or computer on a display in a Zoom Room. The first option uses Zoom for Home TV on supported devices. The second is a Zoom Rooms workflow and depends on the room’s equipment and configuration.
- Join from the TV: Check the exact Apple TV, Sony BRAVIA, or Sky Glass requirements below, including the camera and software versions.
- Share content to a Zoom Room: Use one of Zoom’s documented room-sharing methods, such as direct sharing, share.zoom.us, Apple screen mirroring, or wired HDMI capture.
Zoom’s documentation does not establish that generic smart TVs or a standard Chromecast can run Zoom meetings. Screen mirroring or displaying a shared screen should not be mistaken for native Zoom support.
Use Zoom for Home TV on Apple TV
Zoom lists Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later) as supported. The setup also requires Zoom for Home TV version 5.17.0 or later, tvOS 17 or later, and an iPhone or iPad that supports Continuity Camera and runs iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 or later. The mobile device supplies the camera connection.

Share content to a Zoom Rooms display instead
If your TV is part of a Zoom Room, you may be able to share a device’s content to that room. Zoom documents direct sharing, sharing through share.zoom.us, Apple screen mirroring, and wired HDMI capture. These methods send content to a configured Zoom Room; they do not turn an ordinary television into a Zoom meeting device.

- Direct sharing or share.zoom.us: Use the sharing workflow supported by the Zoom Room and your device. Zoom explains the available methods in Sharing content in Zoom Rooms.
- Apple screen mirroring: Zoom’s instructions describe mirroring to a Zoom Room, not universal AirPlay casting to any television. See Sharing a screen using Apple screen mirroring in Zoom Rooms.
- Wired HDMI capture: Zoom describes connecting an HDMI source to a Zoom Room’s HDMI input or using an HDMI-to-USB capture device connected to the room system. It is a Zoom Rooms setup, not a general-purpose TV connection. See Wired HDMI Screen Sharing with a capture device.
What to do if your TV is not listed
If you do not have one of the documented TV configurations, do not assume that installing an app, casting with Chromecast, or mirroring a phone will let you join a Zoom meeting on the TV. Check Zoom’s current device-specific requirements first. If the display belongs to a Zoom Room, use the room’s supported sharing workflow; otherwise, the documented material does not establish a generic TV method for joining meetings.
