You can listen to SiriusXM on an iPhone with its free app or on a Mac with SiriusXM’s web player, but streaming content is not generally free. You need an eligible trial or a plan that includes streaming. SiriusXM currently lists two three-month trial offers: an app-only trial that requires a credit card and auto-renews, and a no-card car-and-app trial limited to qualifying inactive radios.
Can you listen to SiriusXM for free on an iPhone or Mac?
Yes, if you have an eligible trial or an existing SiriusXM plan that includes streaming. The app and web player are free ways to access the service, not a permanent free streaming tier.
- iPhone: The SiriusXM app is free to download and update, but streaming requires account access. SiriusXM’s listening guide distinguishes the free app from the programming available through a plan.
- Mac: SiriusXM’s web player works in a browser with JavaScript enabled. You must sign in with credentials for an eligible plan or trial. Open the SiriusXM web player.
Choose a trial that fits your devices and eligibility
SiriusXM’s current offer page lists the following two three-month trials. Terms and prices can change, so review the live offer before enrolling.
| Trial | Who and what it covers | Payment and what happens next |
|---|---|---|
| All Access (App Only) | Streaming on a phone, computer, and other supported smart devices; subject to SiriusXM’s eligibility rules. | Credit card required. The offer page lists $0 for three months, then $11.99 per month, plus any applicable taxes or fees. It renews monthly unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal. |
| Platinum car + app | App streaming plus in-car service, available only for a qualifying inactive radio as determined by SiriusXM. | The offer page says no credit card is required. The trial stops at the end unless you choose a new plan. |
The app-only route is the relevant offer if you want to stream on a Mac or iPhone without a qualifying radio. The no-card offer is not available to every Mac or iPhone owner; eligibility depends on the radio. See SiriusXM’s current trial offers and terms.

Listen on an iPhone
- Install the SiriusXM app from the Apple App Store. The download is free; access to subscription streams is not included just by installing it.
- Open the app and sign in with the credentials for a SiriusXM plan that includes streaming or an active trial.
- If you do not have streaming access, check the current trial offers and confirm that you qualify before signing up.
- If you take the app-only trial and do not want a paid subscription, cancel at least 24 hours before its renewal date. Removing the app does not cancel the subscription.
Listen on a Mac
- Open siriusxm.com/player in a browser with JavaScript enabled.
- Sign in with the account credentials for a plan or trial that includes streaming.
- If you need trial access, review the offer terms before enrolling; using the browser player does not bypass the subscription requirement.
What “free” means—and what it does not
Free app download
SiriusXM says the app is free to download and update. That covers the software, not unrestricted access to its streaming channels.
Free trial
A trial provides temporary access under its offer terms. The app-only option requires a credit card and renews automatically unless cancelled on time. The Platinum car-and-app option says no card is required, but only for qualifying inactive radios, and ends unless you choose another plan.

Free listening on some inactive satellite radios
SiriusXM may make limited channels or a Free Access Plan available on certain inactive satellite radios. Its free-listening information concerns satellite radios, not free streaming on a Mac browser or iPhone app. Eligibility and radio capability matter, and some older radios may not receive the listed channels. The channel lineup PDF is effective November 20, 2025, and says the lineup may change: Free Listen Channel Lineup.

Before you start streaming
- Cancellation: SiriusXM says app-only subscriptions purchased directly from it can be cancelled online through the account. Deleting the app or simply not using the service does not cancel a subscription. Check the offer and account terms for the applicable cancellation method.
- Mobile data: Streaming away from Wi-Fi uses cellular data, so your carrier’s data plan and charges may apply. SiriusXM’s ways-to-listen page notes the cellular-data requirement.
- Location: SiriusXM lists service in the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Canadian residents are directed to SiriusXM Canada.
- Channel access: Available channels vary by plan. Confirm that the plan or trial includes the streaming access and channels you want.
