Apple announced iPhone Air on September 9, 2025, calling it the thinnest iPhone ever. It measures 5.6 mm thick and weighs 165 g, with a 6.5-inch 120Hz-capable display, A19 Pro chip, 48MP rear camera and 18MP Center Stage front camera. It is also eSIM-only, so it has no physical SIM card slot.
How thin and light is iPhone Air?
Apple lists iPhone Air at 5.6 mm thick and 165 g. The 5.6 mm figure is the company’s launch specification and its “thinnest iPhone ever” wording is Apple’s positioning, not an independent comparison. The phone has a Grade 5 titanium frame and a raised rear “plateau” that houses the cameras, speaker and Apple silicon; Apple says that internal arrangement leaves room for the battery. See Apple’s September 9, 2025 announcement and technical specifications.
What display and durability features does it have?
The 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display supports adaptive ProMotion refresh rates up to 120Hz and Always-On. Apple also specifies peak outdoor brightness up to 3000 nits and says the display improves outdoor contrast; these are manufacturer-published specifications and claims.
Apple says iPhone Air has Ceramic Shield 2 on the front and Ceramic Shield on the back. Its launch announcement claims three-times-better scratch resistance for the front material and four-times-better crack resistance for the back material compared with their respective previous materials. Those are Apple’s comparisons; the announcement does not provide independent durability test results.

Which chips and wireless features are included?
Apple names three chips: A19 Pro, N1 and C1X. The company says N1 enables Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread, while C1X is the cellular modem. These are Apple’s published hardware descriptions; they do not, by themselves, establish comparative performance or real-world network speeds.
How long does the battery last?
Apple describes iPhone Air battery life as all-day but does not give a standalone hours-of-use figure in its announcement. Apple says iPhone Air paired with the separately announced MagSafe Battery can provide up to 40 hours of video playback. That figure applies to the phone-and-accessory combination, not the phone by itself or a guaranteed daily runtime.
