In the European Union, Epic’s published instructions are to install the AltStore PAL marketplace, open it, choose Fortnite, and tap Free. You’ll need a compatible iPhone and to meet AltStore’s marketplace download conditions; Fortnite’s availability through this route is specifically listed for the EU.
Before you start: check eligibility
There are two separate checks: whether you can download AltStore PAL and whether Epic offers Fortnite through it in your location. AltStore lists iOS or iPadOS 18.0 or later, a supported browser, physical presence in the EU, Japan, or Brazil, and an App Store account for one of those regions as conditions for downloading its marketplace. Epic’s current Fortnite instructions list AltStore PAL for EU users, so do not assume that meeting AltStore’s broader marketplace conditions also makes Fortnite available through AltStore PAL in Japan or Brazil.
Check Epic’s current iOS and iPadOS installation instructions for availability in your region before you begin. AltStore’s download page provides its marketplace requirements and installation prompts.
Install Fortnite through AltStore PAL

On your iPhone, open AltStore.io’s download page in a supported browser and tap Download.

When the “Marketplace Installation” alert appears, allow downloads from AltStore LLC. Then open Settings, find the Apple ID area, and select Allow Marketplace From AltStore LLC.

Return to the AltStore download page and tap Download again. Accept the prompt to install the marketplace.

Open AltStore PAL, select Fortnite, and tap Free to start installing the game.

If Fortnite or AltStore PAL is unavailable
Epic lists other ways to play or install Fortnite, but the options vary by location and device. Its current support page says the Epic Games Store is available on iPhone and iPad in the EU, and on iPhone in Japan and Brazil. Epic also lists App Store downloads, except in Australia, and cloud gaming in supported regions with a stable connection.

Why this guide uses AltStore PAL, not computer-based sideloading
AltStore PAL is a marketplace installation route. Epic says it does not officially support the use of third-party software to install Fortnite on iOS. For that reason, this guide covers the AltStore PAL route Epic identifies, not other sideloading methods. See Epic’s guidance on third-party installation software.
