Pair a JBL speaker with a phone, tablet, or computer

Turn on the speaker. Press its Bluetooth button to enter pairing mode. JBL says most speakers use a quick press and release; some models require you to hold the button. A sound or blinking indicator may signal that the speaker is ready to pair.

Open Bluetooth settings on your phone, tablet, or computer and turn Bluetooth on.

Scan for available devices and select the JBL speaker name shown in the list.

Once the device shows as connected, play audio to check the connection.
Button behavior and pairing indicators differ between models. If these steps do not match your speaker, find the model name on the product and follow its official JBL manual or support instructions.

Pair JBL headphones
Headphone controls vary, so use the instructions for your model rather than assuming every JBL headset pairs the same way.
JBL LIVE 400BT, Live 500BT, Live 650BTNC, and Live 220BT
For these models, turn on the headphones and look for a blinking blue light indicating pairing mode. On the phone or other source device, open Bluetooth settings and select the JBL headphones. To pair again or connect a different device, hold the headphones’ power button until the blue light flashes, then select them from that device’s Bluetooth list. JBL’s instructions cover these LIVE models.

Other JBL headphone models
Some JBL headphones enter pairing mode automatically the first time they are turned on. For another device, some models use a Bluetooth button on the right ear cup. That control is not universal; check the instructions for your exact model. JBL’s support and manuals can help identify the correct procedure.
Reconnect a JBL device you have paired before
Pairing is the initial association between the JBL product and a phone, tablet, or computer. Afterward, the product may reconnect automatically, but it must still be connected to play audio. If it does not reconnect, turn on Bluetooth on the source device and manually select the JBL product in its Bluetooth settings.

Automatic reconnection may not happen if the source device does not support it, if the JBL speaker connected to another phone, or if the source has since connected to a different speaker. If another phone is using the JBL speaker, disconnect it there or switch off Bluetooth on that phone, then select the speaker from the intended device.

The JBL product does not appear in Bluetooth settings

Make sure the speaker or headphones are on and in pairing mode. If needed, use the model-specific Bluetooth or power-button procedure to start pairing again.

Confirm Bluetooth is on for the phone, tablet, or computer, then scan for available devices again.

Check whether the product is already connected to another phone or source device and disconnect it there before trying again.
A Windows PC cannot connect or play audio
A computer’s Bluetooth driver can cause connection problems. JBL recommends checking the computer manufacturer’s support or download page for an up-to-date driver. JBL’s PC guidance identifies A2DP as the Bluetooth profile for music audio and AVRCP for controls such as play and skip.
When to forget the device or reset the speaker
Do not start by forgetting the JBL device or factory-resetting the speaker. JBL warns that a reset erases stored pairings, so you will need to pair the speaker again. Try reconnecting from Bluetooth settings and resolving any connection to another phone first. If a reset is still needed, follow the procedure in the manual for your model.
