Use Xbox Remote Play in the Xbox PC app to stream games installed on your Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S to a supported Windows PC. The game runs on your console and its video and audio stream to your computer; this is different from Xbox Cloud Gaming, which streams from Xbox’s cloud.
What you need for Xbox Remote Play on PC
- Console: An Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S with remote features enabled. Xbox describes Remote Play as playing games installed on your console remotely from your PC.
- Windows PC: The Xbox PC app page lists Windows 10 or 11, version 22H2 or later. It also lists 150 MB of storage and a 720p display for the app; individual games may have different system requirements.
- Xbox account: A Microsoft account with an Xbox profile.
- Network: Xbox lists 5 GHz Wi-Fi or mobile data and a download connection of 10 Mbps. This is Xbox’s stated guidance, not a guarantee of smooth play or a latency target.
- Input device: You will need a way to control the game. Xbox’s Remote Play page features the Xbox Wireless Controller, but its explicit Bluetooth-controller requirement is in a note about mobile devices; the cited PC information does not establish that a particular controller is required.
How to start streaming your Xbox to a PC
- On the Xbox you want to use, make sure remote features are enabled. Xbox identifies this as a requirement, but its cited pages do not provide a complete menu-by-menu setup path.
- On your Windows PC, install or open the Xbox PC app and sign in with the Microsoft account associated with your Xbox profile.
- In the app, open the Remote Play feature and connect to your console. Select a game installed on that console to play it remotely.
The Xbox PC app’s Remote Play feature is the relevant route when you want to use your own console. Exact labels and availability can change, so follow the current prompts shown in the app.
Remote Play or Cloud Gaming?

Xbox advertises Remote Play and Cloud Gaming as separate features in its Xbox PC app information. The console’s remote features are required for Remote Play; Cloud Gaming does not use your console as the source.
What the connection requirement does—and does not—tell you
Xbox lists 5 GHz Wi-Fi or mobile data and 10 Mbps down for Remote Play on its Remote Play page. Treat that figure as the service’s stated connection guidance, not a promise that gameplay will be smooth. Network conditions affect streaming, and the listed speed does not specify an acceptable latency.

If you meet the app and console requirements but do not see Remote Play, check that the console’s remote features are enabled and that you are signed in with the account linked to your Xbox profile. The official pages cited here do not document a full troubleshooting sequence or all possible causes of connection problems.
