Android does not have one diagnostics screen shared by every phone. On a Pixel, start in Settings; on a Samsung Galaxy, use Samsung Members or Device care. If you have another Android brand, search Settings for “diagnostics” or check the manufacturer’s support instructions—those routes are not guaranteed to exist on every device.
Choose the diagnostics route for your phone

How do I run diagnostics on a Pixel?
- Open Settings and tap Device health & support.
- Review the device status and the checks available on your phone. Select a check to start it. Alternatively, use Settings search for “diagnostics” or a specific feature such as Battery or charging diagnostics.
- For battery-specific checks, go to Settings > Battery > Battery Diagnostics. Google lists this route for Pixel 6 and later, including Fold.
Most Pixel diagnostics are available on Pixel 6 and later, including Fold. Touch diagnostics are limited to Pixel 9 and later. Calls, mobile data, and Wi-Fi diagnostics are limited to Pixel 11 series in the US; these are device- and region-specific options, not general Android features. How do I run diagnostics on a Samsung Galaxy?
- Open or install Samsung Members.
- Tap Diagnostics—Samsung says it may appear under Discover or Support—then tap Phone diagnostics.
- Choose an individual test or Test all, then follow the on-screen prompts. Samsung notes that many tests require interaction.
Samsung Members may offer checks for items such as the battery, buttons, camera, charging, fingerprint sensor, microphone, network, speakers, screen, sensors, and wireless connections. The exact list depends on the Galaxy model; not every device has every check.
On Galaxy devices running Android 12 or later, another route is Settings > Device care > Diagnostics > Phone diagnostics. Labels can vary with model and software version. See Samsung’s Galaxy diagnostics instructions.

What if you have another Android phone?
Try searching Settings for “diagnostics” or the name of the feature you want to check. If nothing relevant appears, look up the model on the manufacturer’s support site or use its support app. The Pixel and Samsung procedures above do not establish a universal Android diagnostics menu, and old dialer codes should not be treated as a reliable, brand-wide test method.

Use a failed result as a troubleshooting clue, not as a complete diagnosis. Samsung may provide suggestions or a related FAQ after a failed test. If the symptom continues despite a passed check, contact the phone maker or an authorized repair provider; a self-test only reports the checks available on that device.

For Pixel service, Google documents Repair mode for eligible devices running the December 2023 Android 14 update or higher and with at least 2 GB of free space.
