For a P265 or P283, look up your TV brand in Verizon’s P265/P283 code list; for a Voice Remote, pair it with the Fios TV box and use the on-screen setup for TV or audio control.
Identify your Fios remote before programming
Check the label or markings on the remote and match the model to the procedure below. Verizon says remote codes vary by TV make and model. Its P265/P283 code table and button sequences are not universal instructions for every Fios remote.

Program the Fios TV Voice Remote
Pair it with a Fios TV One or One Mini
- Point the remote at the Fios TV One or Fios TV One Mini.
- Hold Play/Pause and O together.
- Release the buttons when the blue light starts flashing. When it stops flashing, Verizon says the remote is connected and ready.
Set up control of your TV or audio system
After pairing, HDMI-connected equipment may be detected automatically. On the Fios box, open Menu > Settings > Voice control > Fios TV Voice Remote > Program Voice Remote > Automatic Setup and follow the prompts. Verizon says a “Success” message appears when setup completes.
If Automatic Setup does not work, select Manual Setup, choose the TV or receiver brand and model, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Program a Verizon P265 remote
Search for a working TV code
- Press OK and FiOS TV together, then release. The red light should blink twice and stay on.
- Press and release Play/Pause once per second until the TV turns off.
- Press TV Power to test whether the TV turns back on. If it does, press OK to save.
- If the TV does not turn on, press Channel Down once per second until it does, then press OK to save.
Use guided programming instead
With the TV on, open Menu > Customer Support > Top Support Tools > Program Fios Remote. Press OK and follow the prompts on the TV.
Program a Verizon P283 Big Button Remote
Verizon says the P283 Big Button Remote is no longer available, but that does not mean an existing P283 cannot be used. To program one:

- Turn on the TV and Fios set-top box.
- Find the TV brand’s three-digit code in Verizon’s P265/P283 code list.
- Press OK and 0 together, then enter the three-digit code. The red light should blink twice and stay on.
- Press Channel Down once per second until the TV turns off.
- Press TV Power to test the TV. If it turns on, press OK to save.
Use the procedure for other Fios remote models
Do not use the P265/P283 sequence for the Philips RC1445302 or Motorola 800. Verizon’s Fios remote-control FAQ lists separate steps for these models:
- Philips RC1445302: Hold TV and press OK, enter the three-digit code, test with TV Power, then press OK to save.
- Motorola 800: Hold TV for six seconds, press Power, press the Up arrow once per second until the TV turns off, then press OK to store the code.
Find the right TV code
Use Verizon’s P265/P283 table to look up codes by manufacturer. For example, that table lists 132 for Samsung and 282 for Sony. These are examples for those remote families, not guaranteed codes for every TV from either brand. Verizon notes that codes can differ by make and model, and a manufacturer may have several listed codes.

If the first code does not work, try another code listed for your brand or use the search or on-screen setup method supported by your remote. Use the full live code list rather than relying on a short list of examples.

Troubleshoot a Fios remote that will not control the TV
- The button sequence does not work: Check the remote’s model and restart with that model’s procedure. The sequences differ.
- A code does not control the TV: Try another code listed for the manufacturer, or use the applicable code-search or guided setup option.
- P265 search turns the TV off, but it will not turn back on: Press Channel Down once per second until the TV turns on, then press OK to save.
- Voice Remote Automatic Setup fails: Choose Manual Setup and select the TV or receiver brand and model.
- Your P283 is missing or defective: Verizon says this model is no longer available and links to its Equipment & Accessories Store for replacement Fios remotes. Check that a replacement is compatible before buying.
