HBO Max is the streaming service associated with the Max name transition. The official explainer says Max was becoming HBO Max and that the app experience, programming, plans, and pricing would stay the same, but its future-tense wording does not establish the exact date the transition was completed. Availability, prices, devices, and titles can vary by country, provider, and time.
How much does HBO Max cost?
The official US plan comparison lists three options. These are the figures shown on that help page, not a guarantee of the price you will see at checkout; confirm the current offer and billing terms when you subscribe. Source: Max Help Center US plan comparison.
| Plan | US price listed | Streams and video | Downloads and other listed features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic with Ads | $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year | Two simultaneous devices; Full HD 1080p | Download limit not stated in the comparison; ads included |
| Standard | $16.99 per month or $169.99 per year | Two simultaneous devices; Full HD 1080p | Up to 30 downloads; live sports included |
| Premium | $20.99 per month or $209.99 per year | Four simultaneous devices; 4K UHD and Dolby Atmos where available | Up to 100 downloads; live sports included |
The help page says picture and audio quality depend on availability, and download limits apply. A plan with 4K UHD or Dolby Atmos does not mean every title is offered in those formats.
Which plan fits your viewing?
- Choose Basic with Ads if the listed ad-supported option and Full HD streaming meet your needs.
- Consider Standard if you want downloads or the live sports included on the cited US plan page.
- Consider Premium if you need four simultaneous streams, want the higher listed download limit, or have compatible equipment and content for 4K UHD or Dolby Atmos.
Plan availability and billing can depend on where you subscribe. The US page names Max.com, Amazon Appstore, Apple App Store, Google Play, Prime Video Channels, Roku, Samsung, Cox, Xfinity, and Xumo among providers; not every plan is necessarily offered through every provider.

What shows and movies are on HBO Max?
The US help page describes a catalog that includes HBO series and movies, Max Originals, and selected programming from Warner Bros., DC, Cartoon Network, Harry Potter, Adult Swim, HGTV, Food Network, TLC, ID, Magnolia Network, Discovery, TCM, and other brands. It says most new HBO shows and movies are available on the service when they air on HBO. The catalog changes, and a title’s availability may differ by country.
To browse, open the Series or Movies section. The service also uses rows such as Top 10, Just Added, and Coming Soon, according to the help page. For a particular title, check the catalog in your own account and location rather than assuming it is currently included.

What devices can you watch HBO Max on?
The official device guide covers phones, tablets, computers, TVs, streaming players, set-top boxes, and game consoles. The exact supported models and software requirements vary, so consult the device list for your country before installing the app. Source: Max Help Center device guide, localized for Singapore.
That guide lists Amazon Fire TV devices, including Fire TV Stick, Echo Show 15, and smart TVs with Fire TV built in, and specifies Fire OS 5 or later for its listed Fire TV devices. Because the page is localized for Singapore and may not reflect the latest device matrix, check your exact model against the current local guide. If you are choosing a streaming player to add an app platform to a TV, verify the model before buying.

Where can you watch HBO Max?
The service is available in multiple regions, but its market list and catalog are location-dependent. The official availability result includes the United States and territories, markets in Europe and Asia-Pacific, and markets in Latin America and the Caribbean. However, that result also contains future-facing rollout language referring to 2025 and a planned July launch, so it is not a reliable complete list of current markets as of October 8, 2026. Use the official country selector or current availability article to confirm whether the service is offered where you live. Source: Max Help Center availability information.
The availability page says you can stream while traveling in an available region, but the catalog changes according to your physical location. A subscription in one country therefore does not guarantee the same selection of shows and movies while abroad.

Who bills your subscription?
Your billing provider matters if you need to change or cancel a plan. If you subscribed through an app store, streaming platform, TV provider, or another listed partner, manage billing through that provider’s account settings; if you subscribed directly, check the service’s account page. The official US comparison names several possible providers, but the available plans vary by provider, so verify the provider shown on your receipt or account.
