To give a Windows PC a Halloween look, open Settings > Personalization > Themes and check the installed themes, then select Browse themes to look in Microsoft Store. If you do not find a suitable Halloween option, set a spooky background and adjust the other personalization options yourself, then save the result as a theme.
What a Windows theme changes
A Windows theme is a bundle of personalization settings—not a complete operating-system skin. It can combine desktop background pictures, window colors, sounds, and other elements. You can apply a bundle as-is or customize its parts to create a seasonal look. Microsoft’s theme instructions cover Windows 11 and Windows 10.
How to find a Halloween theme in Windows
- Open Settings.
- Go to Personalization > Themes.
- Check the themes already installed and select one to apply.
- To look for more, choose Browse themes to open Microsoft Store.
The Store route is the documented way to browse Windows themes, but a general themes catalog does not confirm that a Halloween-specific theme is available now. Check the current listing for its name, compatibility, included elements, and price before downloading it. Microsoft’s December 11, 2025 announcement reported over 400 themes, including over 35 new additions at that time; it did not establish the October 2026 catalog or the availability of a particular Halloween theme. Microsoft’s announcement also noted that themes are collections of wallpapers and accent colors that may change over time.
How to make your own spooky Windows theme
If the Store does not have what you want, you can create a seasonal look with the available Windows personalization settings.

- Open Settings > Personalization > Themes.
- Choose the background option to select a Halloween image.
- Adjust the theme’s colors and, if you want, its sounds and cursor options.
- Save the customized settings as a theme and give it a recognizable name, such as “Halloween.”

Choosing downloads and optional customization apps
For a theme package, start with Microsoft Store or use another source only after checking that the download is compatible with your Windows version and comes from a source you trust. The available official guidance does not assess third-party sites or packages, so it cannot establish that every external download is safe or unsafe.

Live wallpaper and deeper interface-customization apps are separate from ordinary Windows themes. Microsoft named Lively Wallpaper, TranslucentTB, and Seelen UI as examples of Microsoft Store customization apps in its December 2025 announcement; that announcement does not verify their current availability or Halloween-specific features.
