You can play Fortnite on an iPhone or iPad through a region-eligible app store or cloud gaming; on a Mac, Epic currently points players to cloud gaming rather than a native Mac install. The right route depends first on your country, then on whether you want to download the game or stream it.
Choose a route based on your device and country
Fortnite’s iPhone and iPad installation options vary by region. Epic lists the App Store, Epic Games Store mobile, AltStore PAL, and cloud streaming, but not every option is available everywhere. Check Epic’s Fortnite mobile guide for your location before installing.

How to play Fortnite on iPhone or iPad
Install from an available storefront
- Check your country. Open Epic’s mobile guide and identify which installation routes are currently offered where you live. Epic says the App Store route is unavailable in Australia; Epic Games Store mobile is listed for iPhone in the EU, Brazil, and Japan and for iPad in the EU, while AltStore PAL is listed for EU users.
- Follow the route Epic lists for your device. Use the App Store, Epic Games Store mobile, or AltStore PAL only if Epic lists it for your country and device. Follow the linked installation instructions and confirm the current OS and hardware requirements before proceeding.
- Launch Fortnite and sign in. Once installation is complete, open the game and use your Epic account if you want to access your account and progression.
Stream the game if a native route does not fit
Epic also lists cloud streaming as an option for iPhone and iPad in supported regions. Streaming avoids downloading Fortnite itself, but it requires a supported service and a stable internet connection. Open Epic’s mobile guide for current provider links, then check the provider’s regional and device requirements. Browser support and how you launch the stream may differ by provider.
How to play Fortnite on a Mac
Epic’s current Mac help page says Fortnite is not available natively on Mac and directs players to Xbox Cloud Gaming, NVIDIA GeForce NOW, or Amazon Luna. Check Epic’s Mac guidance, then confirm the chosen service supports your country, Mac, and preferred way of playing.

- Choose a supported cloud service. Start from Epic’s Mac help page and open the provider’s current service information.
- Check access requirements. Confirm availability in your country, supported browser or app, account requirements, and any subscription or plan terms directly with the provider. Requirements can vary, and Epic’s listing does not establish that every service is free or that a subscription is always required.
- Start Fortnite through the service. Streaming runs the game remotely, so you do not install the native Mac version. A stable connection matters; service coverage and network quality can affect whether play is practical.
Native installation or cloud streaming?
A native iPhone or iPad install downloads Fortnite to the device and depends on storefront eligibility and compatible hardware. Cloud streaming avoids that game download and is the Mac route Epic currently identifies, but it depends on supported-region access and a reliable internet connection. If your connection is unstable, a native mobile install—where available—is the less network-dependent option.
Do you need a controller?
No. Epic’s GeForce NOW FAQ says mobile players can use either touch controls or a controller for streaming. It also lists Microsoft Xbox Wireless controllers among supported controllers, though compatibility can vary by device and service. Is the Fallout crossover available now?
Epic’s current official material cited here does not establish the Fallout crossover’s dates, content, or whether it is still available. The live App Store listing’s 2026 season notes do not confirm those details. Check Fortnite’s current in-game news or an official event announcement before planning around Fallout content.
