There is no confirmed launch date for Nvidia RTX 50 SUPER GPUs. Reports have floated a return to plan and a possible early-2027 release, while a later report says cards were being held without a new schedule. Nvidia has not officially confirmed a SUPER lineup, so none of those reports establishes that a launch is imminent.
Has Nvidia confirmed RTX 50 SUPER GPUs?
No. Nvidia’s January 6, 2025 announcement introduced the GeForce RTX 50 series, built on Blackwell, and named the desktop RTX 5090, RTX 5080, RTX 5070 Ti, and RTX 5070. It did not announce SUPER models.
The announcement said the RTX 5090 has 92 billion transistors and delivers over 3,352 trillion AI operations per second. Those figures apply to the announced RTX 5090, not to any rumored refresh.
What do the RTX 50 SUPER launch reports say?
The reports point in different directions, and each is unconfirmed:

- July 17, 2026 — possible hold: VideoCardz reported that an unnamed board-partner source said at least one partner had received cards and that Nvidia told add-in-board partners to hold them. The report attributed the hold to the cost of 3GB GDDR7 memory and said no new release schedule had been provided. Those details come from an unnamed source, not an Nvidia announcement.
- June 2026 — “back on track” claim: Tom’s Hardware relayed a leaker’s claim that the refresh was back on track and discussed a possible lineup. That claim predates the July hold report and is not confirmation.
- June 9, 2026 — possible early-2027 timing: GamesRadar reported that Benchlife’s understanding was that refreshed cards could arrive as early as the beginning of 2027. This is a reported possibility, not a scheduled launch.
- Separate 2026 possibility: Tom’s Hardware described a claim that Nvidia might release no new RTX gaming GPUs in 2026. That rumor does not settle whether or when SUPER cards will appear.
Taken together, these reports do not establish a firm date or even that the rumored cards will launch. They also do not confirm final model names, specifications, memory configurations, MSRP, or retail availability.

If you need a graphics card now, the RTX 5080 is an officially announced product; a SUPER model is not. Whether buying now makes sense depends on your workload, the card’s actual price and availability where you live, and whether your current GPU can meet your needs while you wait. The cited reporting does not verify today’s RTX 5080 price or stock, and it provides no independent benchmarks for comparing it with a future SUPER card.

- Consider buying now if you need an upgrade for work or gaming and find an existing card that fits your budget, performance needs, power supply, and case.
- Consider waiting if your current system is adequate and you are comfortable with an uncertain timeline and unknown specifications and pricing.
