You must sideload TrollInstallerX before you can run it; the installer itself does not jailbreak your device.
Check whether your device and version are eligible
TrollStore’s project README lists support for iOS 14.0 beta 2 through 16.6.1, as well as certain versions outside this guide’s range. That compatibility list is not a guarantee that TrollInstallerX offers the same installation method on every supported device. Use the device architecture and OS version together to select a path.

The walkthrough broadly describes arm64 devices as iPhone X and older and arm64e as iPhone XS and newer, but check your specific model rather than relying only on that rule of thumb. The TrollStore project README also says iOS 16.7.x is unsupported except for 16.7 RC (20H18), and versions 17.0.1 and later are unsupported.
Choose the TrollInstallerX installation method

These ranges and exceptions are from the iDownloadBlog walkthrough published April 10, 2024 and the TrollInstallerX release notes. If your exact device/version combination is not covered, do not infer eligibility from the broad TrollStore version list; check the current project release information before proceeding.

Sideload TrollInstallerX
TrollInstallerX is not installed directly from the App Store. The walkthrough uses Sideloadly on a Mac and names AltStore as an alternative. The exact interface and release assets may change, so download the IPA from the official TrollInstallerX releases page, not a third-party mirror.
- On your computer, install a sideloading tool such as Sideloadly or AltStore and download the TrollInstallerX IPA from the official releases page.
- Connect your iPhone or iPad to the computer with a data-capable cable. If the device displays a trust prompt, follow it. In the walkthrough’s Mac example, the connected device is selected in Sideloadly.
- Use the sideloading tool to install the TrollInstallerX IPA on the device.
- If iOS or iPadOS asks you to trust the developer profile, open Settings and follow the on-screen trust prompt before launching the app.
Run TrollInstallerX and install TrollStore
- Open TrollInstallerX on the device. Follow its unsandboxing prompt if one appears.
- Tap Install TrollStore.
- If the installer offers a persistence-helper choice, select a system app for the helper. Choose a direct or no-helper option only if TrollInstallerX presents it for your device and version.
- Complete the prompts shown by the installer. When it finishes, look for TrollStore on the Home Screen and open it to verify the installation.
The method and interface steps above follow the April 2024 walkthrough; use the current official release page for the IPA itself because the latest compatible asset is not established by that walkthrough.

What the persistence helper does
TrollStore’s README explains that an icon-cache reload can change TrollStore-installed apps from System registration to User registration, leaving them unable to launch. A persistence helper placed in a system app can restore System registration for TrollStore and its apps. On jailbroken iOS 14 installations that use TrollHelper, the README says TrollHelper itself persists as a System app and serves as the helper.
The helper is for persistence, not jailbreaking. The walkthrough says TrollInstallerX does not jailbreak the device, and the TrollStore README describes TrollStore as a “permasigned jailed app.”
