Bluehost’s U.S. shared-hosting plans shown for a 36-month term start at $3.99 per month, but the term is paid upfront and renews at a higher rate. For example, Starter’s displayed 36-month introductory rate is $3.99 per month and its 36-month renewal rate is $9.99 per month. Your actual total can also include taxes, optional products, and domain costs. Before buying, compare the full initial-term charge with the renewal cost for the term you expect to keep, then confirm your own offer in checkout and your account’s Renewal Center.
Bluehost shared-hosting prices at a glance
These are the U.S. English pricing-page rates for the displayed plans and a 36-month term, accessed October 8, 2026. Monthly figures are equivalent rates, not monthly payment amounts. Bluehost says VAT and GST are not included, and promotions apply only during the initial term. The listed renewal rate is for renewing on a 36-month term.
| Plan | Introductory rate | 36-month renewal rate | Selected included capacity and features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $3.99/month equivalent | $9.99/month equivalent | 10 websites, 10 GB NVMe storage, free domain for the first year |
| Business | $6.99/month equivalent | $13.99/month equivalent | 50 websites, 50 GB NVMe storage, free domain, SSL and CDN; malware scanning/removal and first-year domain privacy are listed |
| eCommerce Essentials | $14.99/month equivalent | $21.99/month equivalent | 100 websites, 100 GB NVMe storage, WooCommerce, free domain, SSL and CDN; Professional Email free trial is listed |
Bluehost’s shared-hosting comparison page shows a broader selection of tiers, but the available plans and offers can vary. For a current introductory quote on a tier not shown above, use its live plan card and checkout rather than a cached search result. Prices can change after the date noted here.
What the introductory price costs over the full term
Multiply the displayed monthly equivalent by 36 to estimate the hosting charge for the initial term before taxes or optional products. At the rates above, that is $143.64 for Starter, $251.64 for Business, and $539.64 for eCommerce Essentials. These calculations use the displayed introductory rates and do not guarantee that the checkout total will match: taxes, selected add-ons, or a changed offer may affect it.
#1 Best Overall
Bluehost takes payment in advance for the full selected plan term, and services automatically renew on the renewal date. A low monthly display therefore does not mean that you can pay month to month at that amount. Its pricing page says: “Promotional rates apply to hosting plans and will automatically renew after initial term at regular rate found in your control panel.”
How renewal terms change the price
Bluehost’s comparison page lists the following monthly-equivalent renewal rates by term. A longer renewal term has a lower listed monthly equivalent on several plans, but commits you to more time and a larger advance payment.
| Plan | Monthly renewal term | 12-month renewal term | 36-month renewal term |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $15.99 | $11.99 | $9.99 |
| Business | $20.99 | $15.99 | $13.99 |
| Plus | $17.99 | $13.99 | $11.99 |
| Pro | $24.99 | $18.99 | $16.99 |
| Premium | $29.99 | $22.99 | $20.99 |
| Enhanced | $35.99 | $27.99 | $24.99 |
| Elite | $37.99 | $32.99 | $28.99 |
| eCommerce Essentials | $32.99 | $23.99 | $21.99 |
| eCommerce Premium | $38.99 | $33.99 | $30.99 |
There are conflicts between Bluehost’s public comparison page and its renewal-pricing help article: the help article lists Plus monthly renewal at $20.99 rather than $17.99, and eCommerce Essentials’ 12-month renewal at $24.99 rather than $23.99. Do not treat either conflicting figure as universal. For an existing account, the Renewal Center is Bluehost’s stated source for the current account-specific price; check the plan details and renewal term before committing.
Extra costs that can appear on a Bluehost bill
These are conditional charges rather than fees every hosting customer must pay. Check which products are already included in the selected plan, whether a trial converts to paid service, and how many domains or users you need.

Rank #3
Professional email
Bluehost lists Professional Email at $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year per user, and Professional Email Plus at $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year per user. The current plan page also advertises a one-month Professional Email trial that automatically renews at $2.99 per month unless cancelled before renewal. Review the trial terms and user count at checkout.
Backups and security products
CodeGuard Basic is listed at $3.99 per month per domain or $47.88 per year; higher CodeGuard tiers cost more. Bluehost separately lists Jetpack backup tiers as annual products. Some hosting plans advertise weekly website backups, so distinguish the plan’s included backup feature from optional paid backup products.
SiteLock Essential is listed at $7.99 per month per domain or $95.88 per year, with higher tiers costing more. Domain privacy is listed at $15 per year per domain, although some plans include first-year privacy. Check the particular plan and domain before adding either product.
Domain registration, renewal, and redemption
Bluehost lists .com registration at $12.99 and renewal at $23.99; other extensions have different prices. Eligible hosting plans include one domain for the first year, subject to qualifying terms and extensions, redemption rules, and the exclusion of premium domains. After the first year, the domain renews at the then-current rate shown in your account.
Best Value
An expired domain can create a separate avoidable cost. Bluehost says it may hold an expired domain for up to 30 days; after the stated grace period, it enters redemption, for which Bluehost lists a $99 fee. This is not a routine annual hosting charge.
Taxes, setup, and refunds
The U.S. English plan cards say VAT and GST are not included. Bluehost says EU VAT is listed separately on invoices; the tax treatment and amount depend on the buyer’s location and transaction, so do not assume one tax-inclusive total applies to everyone.
Bluehost’s pricing-transparency information says setup fees are non-refundable, hosting charges are refundable within the initial 30-day period subject to the plan’s terms, and domain registration fees are non-refundable. The public pricing terms say hosting cancellations after 30 days are not refunded. Domain registration and most add-ons are excluded from the money-back guarantee; if you keep a domain included free with a plan, its standard domain fee may be deducted from a refund. Check the applicable contract, especially for Cloud or other nonstandard products.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to estimate your own Bluehost cost
- Choose the plan based on capacity and features. Compare the website count, storage, store tools, privacy, security, and backup features actually listed on the plan card. The higher tier only makes sense if its extra capacity or included features meet a real requirement.
- Calculate the initial term, not just the monthly display. Multiply the displayed introductory monthly equivalent by the term length, then account for the fact that the full term is charged upfront. Treat checkout as authoritative for taxes and selected extras.
- Price the likely renewal term separately. Compare renewal rates for the term you are willing to purchase, and use the Renewal Center for an existing account. Public pages conflict on some renewal figures.
- Audit add-ons and free trials. Check per-user and per-domain quantities, cancellation deadlines, and whether a feature is already included. A first-year inclusion or trial may become a recurring expense.
- Check the domain and tax details. Confirm whether your chosen extension qualifies for the first-year domain offer, what it will cost to renew, and what taxes apply to your location.
- Review renewal settings. Bluehost services automatically renew. If you do not want that, inspect the renewal date and turn off auto-renew in your account rather than assuming the introductory term simply ends.
What “unmetered” bandwidth means here
Bluehost describes shared-hosting bandwidth as unmetered or without arbitrary traffic fees when use complies with its agreement. That does not mean unlimited in every practical or contractual sense: acceptable-use and resource conditions still apply, and Bluehost reserves remedies for excessive use that harms service. Read the applicable agreement if a site is likely to use unusually high resources.
