Bonjour Print Services for Windows can help a Windows 11 PC discover and configure a Bonjour-enabled printer on the local network. Apple’s available installer is version 2.0.2, but Apple’s published system requirements do not list Windows 11, so compatibility is not explicitly certified. Bonjour handles discovery—not printer drivers, Wi-Fi repair, or the printing process itself.
What Bonjour does on Windows
Bonjour is Apple’s technology for discovering devices and services on a local network. Apple’s Windows utility is specifically for finding and configuring Bonjour-enabled printers with the Bonjour Printer Wizard; it is not a general control panel for every Apple service. Apple says Bonjour is built into most modern printers, but check the exact printer’s specifications rather than assuming it supports Bonjour. Apple’s Bonjour Print Services page describes the utility, while Apple Developer’s Bonjour overview explains the technology.
Discovery and printing are separate steps. Bonjour can help Windows locate a printer, but you may still need the correct Windows 11 driver from the printer manufacturer. It also cannot fix a disconnected printer or make devices discover one another across networks that block or isolate local traffic.
Install Bonjour Print Services

Open Apple’s Download Bonjour Print Services for Windows page and download the listed installer, version 2.0.2 (5.18 MB). Prefer Apple’s download over third-party installer sites.

Run the installer and follow its prompts. Apple’s page lists Windows XP SP2 or later as the system requirement and recommends XP SP3, Vista SP2, or Windows 7. It does not explicitly list or certify Windows 11, so installation on Windows 11 is not a guarantee of support or successful operation.

Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Connect the PC to the same local network, then open the Bonjour Printer Wizard and look for the printer.

If Windows finds the printer, complete the wizard and install or select the appropriate driver if prompted. If discovery succeeds but print jobs fail, troubleshoot the driver, connection, and print queue rather than reinstalling Bonjour by default.
Apple documents Bonjour-enabled network printers connected over Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Its documented USB scenario is a USB printer shared through a Mac or AirPort base station; a USB printer plugged directly into a Windows PC is not the same Bonjour-sharing setup.

Why the printer may not appear
Check the local network first

Confirm the printer is online and joined to the intended Wi-Fi network or Ethernet LAN.

Check that the Windows PC is on that same local network. A guest SSID, separate router, extender configuration, or network isolation setting may prevent devices from seeing each other even when both have internet access.

Verify that the printer model supports Bonjour discovery. If it does not, use the manufacturer’s Windows setup method or add it through Windows using the connection method the manufacturer supports.
Check multicast and firewall restrictions
Bonjour discovery uses Multicast DNS (mDNS) on UDP port 5353. Apple’s port reference lists UDP 5353 for Bonjour and printer discovery. Apple says the Bonjour installer configures Windows Firewall on supported systems, but that does not establish that every Windows 11 firewall setup or separate security product is configured correctly. If discovery still fails, review any separate firewall or managed-network policy for blocked UDP 5353 multicast traffic. Do not broadly open network access as a workaround.

Use Windows’ printer troubleshooting flow
Microsoft’s current printer connection and printing guidance recommends starting with the printer troubleshooter in Get Help, checking the connection, removing and reinstalling the printer when appropriate, and installing a current manufacturer driver. This is the better path when Windows cannot add the printer or when printing fails after the printer is already visible.

When Windows reports mdnsNSP.dll or blocks Bonjour
Avid describes a specific Windows 11 security warning involving mdnsNSP.dll and a Bonjour dependency installed in a Media Composer/PACE iLok context. Its article, updated September 2, 2026, is about that vendor-specific scenario; it does not show that Windows 11 generally blocks Bonjour on all PCs. See Avid’s warning guidance if the message appears with its software.
Before uninstalling Bonjour, determine which program installed it and whether that program needs it. Removing a dependency without checking could affect the application that relies on it. For a printer-only discovery problem, troubleshoot the printer and network separately from an application’s startup warning.
