Can I see my glucose on Apple Watch without my iPhone nearby?
Dexcom Stelo
Yes, if you meet the setup and compatibility requirements. Dexcom says Stelo app version 3.3 or later can send sensor readings directly to a compatible Apple Watch when the iPhone is not nearby. The Stelo FAQ says watch readings update every five minutes: Dexcom Stelo Apple Watch FAQ.
To enable it, pair a compatible Apple Watch with your iPhone, install and open the Stelo watch app, start an active sensor session, turn on “Direct to Watch,” and complete Bluetooth pairing near the sensor. Older app versions require the phone nearby for watch data and notifications. Dexcom’s Stelo compatibility page lists iOS 18.6 as the minimum, iOS 26.6 as the highest OS tested on the captured page, and Apple Watch OS 11.6. These requirements can change, so check the live compatibility information for your devices before buying.

Dexcom G7
G7 documentation describes direct sensor-to-Apple-Watch readings, including a watch app with readings, a trend graph, and alerts. A compatible smartphone is needed to pair a new G7 sensor. The US App Store listing says Share/Follow needs the smartphone to remain within 20 feet (6 meters) and an internet connection; Apple Watch alone does not support Share/Follow: Dexcom G7 US App Store listing.
FreeStyle Libre 2 and Libre 3
No. Abbott says Libre watch glucose data and alerts appear only when the iPhone is in range of the sensor. The watch app mirrors alerts from the phone app rather than providing phone-independent access. Does FreeStyle Libre work with Apple Watch?
Yes. Abbott’s US Libre app listing supports FreeStyle Libre 2 and FreeStyle Libre 3 on iPhone and Apple Watch. The important limitation is the data path: the phone must be in range of the sensor for watch readings and alerts to appear. If you need to leave your iPhone behind and still see readings on the watch, the Libre arrangement described in Abbott’s listing does not meet that requirement.
How to choose among Apple-compatible CGMs
Choose based on phone-free watch access
If direct watch readings when the phone is elsewhere are your priority, Stelo and G7 have the strongest documented fit. Their setup and pairing requirements differ, and G7 still needs a compatible smartphone to pair a new sensor. Libre’s watch display depends on the iPhone being in range of the sensor.

Stelo is intended for adults 18 and older who do not use insulin, and its app listing cautions people with problematic hypoglycemia not to use it. It is not a general substitute for a prescription diabetes-management CGM. G7 and Libre have distinct labeling and eligibility rules; confirm the current US label and discuss medical suitability with your healthcare professional.

Consider alerts, sharing, and data exports
G7 lists digital-health integrations, a Siri shortcut, and Share/Follow features, with phone and internet requirements for Share/Follow. Stelo support documents Apple Health sharing through Settings > Connections in the Stelo app. Do not assume that Apple Health export or sharing works the same way across CGMs. Abbott’s listed watch alerts are mirrored from the phone app.

Stelo’s listing advises consulting a healthcare provider before medication adjustments and seeking care when appropriate.
