What was rumored before launch
In an October 2, 2025 report, MacRumors summarized expectations that iPhone 17e would arrive in the first half of 2026. The report attributed that timing to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and noted that Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman had also forecast an early-2026 launch. Apple’s March 2026 announcement subsequently confirmed the release timing.

The same MacRumors report described two competing display claims. One report suggested iPhone 17e would reuse the OLED panel from iPhone 16e; a claim from the leaker Digital Chat Station instead suggested a new design with Dynamic Island. These were pre-launch rumors, not confirmed specifications. Apple’s launch and support pages cited here specify the 6.1-inch OLED display but do not identify its cutout design. They therefore do not establish whether the released phone has Dynamic Island or a notch.
