It fixes a Photos bug that could stop memory movies from being shared, includes other bug fixes and security updates, and adds enterprise changes. It is not the latest iOS 18 release: Apple’s update history lists later versions, through iOS 18.7.10. Check Apple’s iOS 18 update history or your iPhone’s Software Update screen for the version currently available to your device.
What’s new in iOS 18.6?
Apple’s consumer-facing release notes highlight one specific bug fix: an issue in Photos that could prevent memory movies from being shared. Apple describes the update more broadly as providing “important bug fixes and security updates.” The notes do not enumerate other consumer-facing bug fixes.
A memory movie is a Photos feature that creates a video from a collection of pictures and clips. The documented fix addresses sharing; Apple does not say that iOS 18.6 changed how memory movies are created or edited. Apple’s iOS 18 update notes provide the release description.
Which iPhones and iPads are compatible?
Apple lists iPhone XS and later as compatible with iOS 18.6. The iPad models below are eligible for iPadOS 18.6, the corresponding iPad release.
