To open it, sign in to the YouTube account whose history you want summarized, then tap You at the bottom of the YouTube app and select the Recap banner. On a computer, visit youtube.com/recap.
There is an important timing caveat: YouTube said the Recap banner would be available through the end of 2025. Its published instructions do not confirm that the 2025 Recap is still accessible in 2026.
How to get your YouTube Recap 2025
- Sign in to the right account. Use the YouTube account with the personal watch history you want included.
- Open Recap on a phone or tablet. In the Android or iOS YouTube app, tap You at the bottom of the screen, then tap the Recap banner.
- Open Recap on a computer. Go to youtube.com/recap while signed in to that account.
YouTube announced the 2025 Recap on December 2 and published access instructions on December 3, 2025. The company said it was rolling out globally; if the banner did not appear during the rollout, its advice was to wait. It also said access through the You tab would last until the end of 2025. The published instructions do not establish whether the 2025 Recap remains available in 2026.
What the Recap shows
The main YouTube Recap uses watch history to assemble up to 12 cards. They can cover top channels, interests, changes in viewing habits, and a viewing personality type. People who watched a lot of music content could also see top artists and songs.
YouTube described the personality cards as a way to reflect different patterns in watch history. The company said it conducted more than 50 concept tests and nine feedback rounds while developing Recap (YouTube, 2025). These are YouTube’s own figures, not independent measurements.

YouTube Recap and YouTube Music Recap are different
The main Recap summarizes viewing on YouTube. The deeper year-in-audio experience lives in the YouTube Music app and focuses on listening. YouTube’s 2025 access article said that users who had listened to at least 10 hours of music on YouTube would see a link to that deeper view in YouTube Music.
| Experience | What it summarizes | Where to open it | Qualification stated by YouTube |
|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube Recap | Watch history, including channels, interests, viewing-habit changes, and a personality card | You tab in the YouTube app, or youtube.com/recap | Uses the signed-in account’s personal watch history; the 2025 access article said it was available through the end of 2025. |
| YouTube Music year-in-audio view | Listening history, with a deeper view of music genres, podcasts, and international listening | YouTube Music app, via the link from Recap | YouTube said the link would appear after at least 10 hours of music listening on YouTube. |

Who could not access Recap?

YouTube’s 2025 Recap personality types
YouTube published the following rarity percentages for its Recap personality cards on December 8, 2025. They describe the share of Recap users YouTube associated with each type, not an independent estimate of how people generally watch videos.
