Yes. Microsoft documented a fix for File Explorer’s three-dot See more menu opening in the wrong direction on some Windows 11 version 24H2 devices. The fix first appeared in the March 27, 2025 optional preview update, KB5053656 (OS Build 26100.3624); the April 8 security update, KB5055523 (OS Build 26100.3775), included improvements from that preview. Availability could be gradual, so installing the April update did not necessarily change the menu immediately on every PC.
Which File Explorer menu did Microsoft fix?
The issue concerned the See more (…) menu in the File Explorer command bar—the three-dot control whose menu could open in the wrong direction in some cases. Microsoft’s March 27 release notes state: “Fixed: In some cases, the See more menu in the File Explorer command bar opens in the wrong direction.”
This claim is specific to that command-bar menu and the cases Microsoft describes. It does not establish that every File Explorer menu was affected or that every Windows 11 24H2 device showed the problem.

So the fix did not originate with the April security update: it was already listed in the March preview. The April update carried forward improvements from that preview.

Why might the menu still open upward after updating?
Windows Latest reported on April 8, 2025, that the fix was rolling out in stages and might not appear immediately after updating. Microsoft describes gradual rollout as distribution over time in its March update information; the staged availability of this particular fix was reported by Windows Latest, not specified as a device-by-device guarantee in the April update notes.
Microsoft lists Windows Update and Microsoft Update as delivery routes for KB5055523. Those release notes do not show whether a particular PC has installed the update or received the fix. To check a device, open Settings > Windows Update > Update history and look for KB5055523 or a later cumulative update. The April release’s listed build is 26100.3775; a later build may reflect subsequent updates. Then reopen File Explorer and check the See more menu. The published notes do not provide a verified manual workaround or a way to force this specific fix to a device.
