Check those in order before assuming the printer is broken.
1. Put the phone and printer on the same local network
For ordinary wireless printing, Android and the printer generally need to be on the same local network. The printer can join the router over Wi-Fi or Ethernet; the important point is that both devices can reach one another on that network. Mopria’s FAQ recommends checking that the printer is connected to the same network as the Android device.
A phone connected to cellular data or a public Wi-Fi hotspot will not discover a printer on a private home network through Mopria. Bluetooth is not a supported Mopria printing path either. If the phone and printer appear to be on the same Wi-Fi but still cannot communicate, router settings may be involved; client isolation is one router-specific possibility, not an established cause in every case.
2. Check Android’s print service
Android needs an active print service to find and send jobs to compatible printers. Open the device’s Settings and look for Printing (the exact path and labels vary by device). Check that an appropriate service is enabled. Many Android devices include a Mopria-powered Default Print Service; Mopria Print Service is another option if needed. Enabling a service does not make every printer compatible. The exact model must support the service, and its mobile-printing feature may need to be configured.
3. Confirm the printer model and setup
Check the printer’s manual or the manufacturer’s official support page for the exact model. Some models require mobile printing to be enabled through the printer’s settings or embedded web page. Mopria also directs users to model-specific manufacturer instructions when setup differs. 4. Try Wi-Fi Direct if both devices support it
Wi-Fi Direct connects the phone to the printer without relying on both being discoverable through the home router. It is an alternative only when the printer and Android device both support it. With Mopria Print Service, discovery of nearby Wi-Fi Direct printers requires location permission. Depending on the phone, you may also need to connect temporarily to the printer’s Wi-Fi Direct network, which can interrupt the phone’s normal Wi-Fi connection. Mopria’s FAQ
5. Compare the connection options

6. Check for printer, router, or app problems
- Make sure the printer and router are powered on; restart them if appropriate.
- Look for control-panel alerts and check paper and ink or toner.
- Check whether printer firmware is current using the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Try printing from another app that offers a print command. The document app must expose a print action; Brother’s guidance notes that an app without a print or menu icon may not support printing through the service. Brother mobile printing guidance
An Ethernet cable is only a possible way to connect the printer to the router if that printer has an Ethernet port; it is not a general fix for discovery, compatibility, or network-isolation problems. Mopria FAQ

When the printer still does not appear
Use the printer maker’s official support instructions or app for the exact model, and check whether the failure happens in one document app or across Android. A precise fix depends on the printer model, Android version, router configuration, and where discovery fails; without those details, there is no single manufacturer app or setting that applies to every reader. The general steps above can narrow down whether the issue is the network, Android’s print service, printer setup, or the app.
