At launch, U.S. starting prices were $899.99, $1,099.99, and $1,299.99; U.K. starting RRPs were £879, £1,099, and £1,279. The January forecast this article title refers to is now historical: the dates and launch prices can be checked against Samsung’s announcements rather than treated as predictions.
What happened to the Galaxy S26 release-date forecast?
TechRadar published its title-matching forecast on January 12, 2026, while release timing and pricing were still subject to conflicting rumors. Samsung announced the Galaxy S26 family on February 25 and said general availability would begin March 11, 2026. Samsung’s U.K. announcement also gave March 11 as the availability date.
In other words, March 11 was the general-availability date, not the announcement date. Samsung opened U.S. preorders with its February 25 announcement. The forecast should be read as a pre-launch prediction, not as a current release-date guide. TechRadar’s January 12 forecast preceded Samsung’s launch announcements.
How much did the Galaxy S26 cost at launch?
Samsung’s U.S. launch announcement listed starting prices for the three models. Samsung’s U.K. announcement listed launch RRPs in pounds. These are launch figures for their respective markets; they are not a direct currency conversion or a statement of today’s retail price.

Samsung described the U.S. figures as starting prices and the U.K. figures as RRPs. The announcements do not establish a single current price across storage configurations, retailers, or regions. Did Samsung raise Galaxy S26 prices after launch?
Tom’s Guide and Android Central reported on October 1, 2026, that U.S. prices had increased for some 256GB configurations, including a reported $100 rise. That is later secondary reporting, not a launch price, and the available evidence here does not include a primary Samsung announcement confirming the changes. The reports do not establish that every model or storage option changed by the same amount.

For a purchase decision, check the live Samsung or retailer listing for the exact model, storage capacity, and market. A reported later price for a particular 256GB configuration should not be substituted for a launch starting price or treated as a universal current price.

- Keep markets separate: the U.S. announcement gives dollar starting prices; the U.K. announcement gives pound RRPs.
- Match the model: S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra have different launch figures.
- Check the time basis: distinguish launch pricing from later reports and a retailer’s live price.
- Match storage: a price for a 256GB configuration is not automatically the starting price for the full model range.
Samsung said U.S. preorders were available through Amazon Stores, Best Buy, Samsung Experience Stores, Samsung.com, and carriers. That launch information does not confirm present inventory or prices at those sellers.
