Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman expects Apple could introduce high-end 14-inch and 16-inch models in October or November 2026, but that is a reported expectation—not a confirmed release plan. An earlier report pointed to late 2026 or early 2027, so the timing remains uncertain.
When could the OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro launch?
The latest reported window is October or November 2026. On October 1, 2026, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman said on his Power On podcast, “Apple, I believe, will introduce its first touchscreen MacBook Pro this fall, as early as October,” adding, “It could slip to November, but as early as October.” MacRumors reported his comments and the rumored features (MacRumors, October 1, 2026).
This is not a confirmed release date. The October report concerns a possible introduction; it does not establish when orders would open or when computers would ship. Apple has not announced the product or its availability.
What has been reported about the new MacBook Pro?
OLED touch displays in two sizes
Reports describe high-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with OLED touch displays. Those screen sizes and the OLED touchscreen are rumored specifications, not details confirmed by Apple. No reviewed report establishes resolution, brightness, refresh rate, OLED construction, or how the touch layer would be implemented.

Touch input alongside the keyboard and trackpad
Earlier Bloomberg reporting said the keyboard and trackpad would remain, with touch gestures augmenting their existing functions. MacRumors relayed the description as “the MacBook will continue to have a trackpad and a keyboard, with touch gestures augmenting existing functionality” (MacRumors, October 16, 2025). The reporting does not establish an iPad-style convertible design or a touch-first interface.
Possible design changes
Rumors have included a thinner chassis and a hole-punch camera; the more recent report describes a Dynamic Island in place of the current notch. These are unconfirmed design details, and the reports do not explain how a Mac Dynamic Island would work. Final dimensions, weight, battery life, and design remain unknown.

Why are reports naming different chips and dates?
The expectations have changed over time. Bloomberg’s October 2025 report described a redesigned model with M6 chips and a late-2026 or early-2027 timeframe (Bloomberg, October 16, 2025). Later reporting, including the October 2026 account, names M5 Pro and M5 Max instead. A July 2026 summary also placed high-end 14-inch and 16-inch OLED touchscreen models on Apple’s reported roadmap, with a late-2026 to early-2027 window (9to5Mac, July 22, 2026).
The newer M5 Pro and M5 Max account is the latest reported chip plan, but Apple has not confirmed which processors, if any, will appear in these models. Likewise, the October-or-November expectation is later than the earlier broad window, not proof that the launch has been scheduled.

Should you buy a MacBook Pro now or wait?
If you need a computer before an unconfirmed announcement, choose among models that are actually available rather than relying on a rumored launch. Current MacBook Pro models are existing alternatives, but they should not be mistaken for the rumored OLED touchscreen design. If OLED and touch input are essential to your next purchase, waiting may let you assess an announced product—but the announcement, shipping schedule, specifications, and price are not established.
- Need a Mac soon: compare available MacBook Pro models against your workload and budget; do not delay a necessary purchase solely for an unconfirmed date.
- Want the rumored display or touch input: consider waiting if your current machine can meet your needs, while treating both features as unconfirmed.
- Choosing by processor: M5 Pro and M5 Max are the latest reported possibilities; an earlier report named M6. Neither chip choice is confirmed for the rumored redesign.
- Planning a budget: no confirmed price for the rumored model is available, and current-model pricing does not establish what a redesigned version would cost.
Macworld’s October 2026 roundup also notes that an early-2027 slip remains possible and that Apple has not confirmed a product or date (Macworld, updated October 2026).
