Tux Paint is a free drawing program for Windows. The official project currently lists version 0.9.35 for Windows 8, 10, and 11, with 64-bit and 32-bit installers, a portable ZIP, and an optional stamps package. These package details come from the official Windows download page. If you are unsure whether Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit, check your PC’s system information before downloading; do not select a package based only on the processor brand.
Install Tux Paint
Using the installer
- Open the official Windows download page and select the installer matching your Windows architecture.
- When the download finishes, open the executable and follow its prompts to install Tux Paint.
- Launch Tux Paint from Windows. The Windows listing also includes Tux Paint Config, a separate configuration utility bundled with the listed application packages.
Using the portable ZIP
- Download the portable ZIP from the official Windows page.
- Extract it into a folder you can access.
- Run Tux Paint from that folder. This option avoids a conventional installer, but the project page does not specify a separate package size or date for the ZIP.
Do you need Tux Paint Stamps?
No. Stamps are an optional add-on, not a requirement for installing the main program. The Windows page lists the Tux Paint application and Tux Paint Config separately from the Tux Paint Stamps installer. Install the stamps package only if you want its additional collection; it is listed at 80 MB for the package dated 2025-05-26.

Windows compatibility and older versions
The current download page names Windows 8, 10, and 11 for the current release. For Windows 7 and earlier, the project provides separate legacy downloads, including builds for Windows 7, XP/2000/Vista, and 95/98/ME. Those are older-version options, not the current release. The official material does not specify minimum CPU, memory, graphics, or disk-space requirements beyond the download package sizes.
Cost, license, and internet access
Tux Paint is free software released under GNU General Public License version 2. The project says it may be installed on as many computers as desired and shared with schools, friends, and family.
