Yes—TikTok is back in the Apple App Store and Google Play for U.S. users. TikTok announced its return on February 14, 2025, and both official U.S. store listings were live when checked on October 8, 2026. TikTok’s announcement, the U.S. App Store listing and the U.S. Google Play listing confirm the status.
Where to download TikTok in the U.S.
Use the official store listing for your device:
- iPhone or iPad: TikTok – Videos, Shop & LIVE on the App Store. Apple lists TikTok Ltd. as the developer and the app as free with in-app purchases.
- Android: TikTok on Google Play.
TikTok’s February 14, 2025 announcement said, “The TikTok app is now available for download from the App Store and Google Play.” Its U.S. listings were still live on October 8, 2026; the Apple listing showed a version-history entry dated about 16 hours before it was checked.
Why you may not see TikTok in your store
The live U.S. listings establish availability in the United States, not in every country or for every account. If TikTok does not appear in search, open the official listing above and check that your app store is set to the correct country or region. The available information does not establish why a particular person may be unable to see or download the app, so a missing search result alone does not show that TikTok has been removed nationwide.
What changed around TikTok’s U.S. operations
On January 23, 2026, TikTok announced the establishment of TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC. TikTok described it as majority American-owned and said it was created in compliance with a September 25, 2025 executive order. In the company’s announced structure, Silver Lake, Oracle and MGX each hold 15%, while ByteDance retains 19.9%; TikTok named Adam Presser as CEO and Oracle as its trusted security partner. These are details reported by TikTok, not an independent assessment of the arrangement.

TikTok said the venture would protect U.S. user data in Oracle’s U.S. cloud environment and take responsibility for specified safeguards, including retraining, testing and updating the recommendation algorithm using U.S. user data, securing that algorithm in Oracle’s cloud, and software assurance and U.S. trust-and-safety functions. The company said its program would follow NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, ISO 27001 and CISA Security Requirements for Restricted Transactions. Those announcements describe the program and its intended controls; they do not, by themselves, establish a particular security outcome.

What the government-device opinion does—and does not—say
A July 16, 2026 opinion from the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel addressed the No TikTok on Government Devices Act, which concerns federal government technology. Its headnotes say the version operated by the USDS joint venture does not fall under that law’s prohibition, based on the venture’s independence, majority-American ownership, and revisions to the recommendation algorithm and cybersecurity program. The opinion is a narrow conclusion about that law and version of TikTok; it is not a finding that TikTok is risk-free or a resolution of every other law or policy that may apply.
