Its strengths include a wide platform range, features such as Meshnet, and repeated independent assurance work on its no-logs claims. The trade-offs are a ten-device limit, no port forwarding, renewal costs that may differ from introductory offers, and disagreement among reviewers about how clearly NordVPN explains its privacy practices.
Is NordVPN worth it?
It can be, if you will use the VPN and the extras included in the plan you choose. The Basic tier is aimed at people who mainly want VPN functionality; higher tiers add products such as NordPass, antivirus, encrypted storage, or personal-data removal. If you only need a VPN, compare Basic’s actual checkout price and renewal terms with alternatives rather than paying for a bundle you will not use.
Independent reviewers identify practical limitations: Security.org reports a ten-device cap and says NordVPN is not the cheapest option, while RTINGS notes the lack of port forwarding. Security.org also cautions that operation through strict national firewalls is not guaranteed. These are relevant trade-offs, not proof that the service will fail for every user or network.
How much does NordVPN cost?
NordVPN’s official plan guide lists four tiers, but a reliable price comparison depends on the market, currency, billing term, promotion, taxes, and renewal amount shown at checkout. Those figures can change, so check the localized checkout page before subscribing and note both the amount due now and the renewal price. Can I get a refund?
NordVPN’s official guidance says the 30-day money-back guarantee requires a refund request. Canceling a subscription by itself does not send your payment back. The company says cancellation after the first 30 days stops future renewal; during the initial 30 days, submit a refund request separately if you want money returned. Is NordVPN safe, and does it keep logs?
NordVPN says Deloitte Lithuania conducted an independent reasonable-assurance engagement at the end of 2025 under ISAE 3000 (Revised). In its February 2026 announcement, the company described this as the sixth review of its no-logs claims and said the engagement examined whether it tracks, monitors, or stores browsing activity. Independent reviewers differ in emphasis. Security.org describes the audited policy positively and reports testing privacy and security features. RTINGS reports positive technical findings, including IP and DNS leak protection while connected and an effective kill switch in its July 2026 update, but criticizes policy clarity, business practices, and the accessibility of audit reports. These assessments address different aspects of trust: technical protections do not settle every question about policy wording or transparency. What features and limitations matter?
Device connections and platform coverage
NordVPN’s plan guide allows ten simultaneous devices per subscription. Security.org’s 2026 review reports support for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, Android TV, Fire TV, Apple TV, and browser extensions, and lists more than 9,300 servers in 137 countries. Those platform and network figures are reviewer-reported and can change; check NordVPN’s current app and server availability for your devices and location. Meshnet and inbound connections
Meshnet can be useful for linking your devices for remote access or file sharing. TechRadar describes using it to reach a home media server. It is not a generic replacement for every remote-access or hosting setup: RTINGS reports that NordVPN does not support port forwarding, which can matter for services that require inbound peer connections. - Compare the scope and accessibility of independent assurance, not just whether an audit or review exists.
- Read the privacy policy and consider what account and service data may be handled beyond browsing activity.
- Check the connection limit and confirm that your devices are supported.
- Match specialized features to your actual use: Meshnet may help with device access, while the absence of port forwarding rules out some inbound-connection setups.
- Compare the total initial payment with the renewal amount, refund conditions, and any app-store billing terms.
- Count bundle extras as value only if you will use them or they replace tools you already pay for.
