The ASUS H97-Pro Gamer is an Intel H97 motherboard with an LGA1150 socket, four DDR3 memory slots and M.2 storage support. Before buying a CPU, RAM kit or SSD for one, check the exact part against ASUS’s model-specific support pages: socket or interface matching alone does not guarantee compatibility.
What is the ASUS H97-Pro Gamer?
It is an older desktop motherboard built around Intel’s H97 Express chipset and an LGA1150 CPU socket. ASUS’s H97-Pro Gamer support page lists the English manual, version E12029, dated July 6, 2017. The manual documents the board’s platform and component specifications; it does not establish current stock, condition, price or availability.
What CPUs are compatible with ASUS H97-Pro Gamer?
ASUS lists specified 4th-generation, new 4th-generation and 5th-generation Intel Core i7, Core i5, Core i3, Pentium and Celeron processors. Do not assume that every LGA1150 processor will work: ASUS validates individual models and specifies the minimum BIOS version for each.
Look up the exact processor in the H97-Pro Gamer CPU support table, then compare its minimum BIOS requirement with the version installed on your board. The BIOS support page lists available versions and their notes.

How much RAM does the H97-Pro Gamer support?
ASUS’s manual specifies four DIMM slots, dual-channel memory and a maximum capacity of 32 GB. Supported memory is non-ECC, unbuffered DDR3 at 1600 or 1333 MHz. The chipset limits memory speed when using XMP, so do not assume a faster-rated kit will operate at its advertised speed.
For module-level compatibility, consult the memory qualified vendor list linked from the ASUS support page. Confirm the module type and total capacity as well as the listed speed before choosing a kit.

Does ASUS H97-Pro Gamer support NVMe?
ASUS’s BIOS history says version 2405 added NVMe support. That does not by itself confirm that every NVMe drive will work in every board configuration; check the installed BIOS, the drive interface and the board’s storage documentation before purchase. ASUS’s BIOS page lists version 2503, dated March 31, 2016, with a stability improvement. That is the latest version identified on the cited listing; do not update automatically if your installed version already meets the requirement for your component.
What M.2 SSD works with the H97-Pro Gamer?
The manual documents one M.2 Socket 3 with an M key for 2260 and 2280 devices in SATA or PCIe mode. The socket shares bandwidth with SATA Express. ASUS also lists one SATA Express port and four SATA 6 Gb/s ports.

- 5X Protection III: all-round protection with LANGuard, DRAM overcurrent protection, overvoltage protection, SafeSlot Core safeguards and stainless-steel back I/O
- Boosted Memory Performance: ASUS OptiMem proprietary trace layout allows memory kits to operate at higher frequencies with lower voltages to maximize system performance.
Before selecting an M.2 drive, verify its length and whether it uses SATA or PCIe, then check the BIOS and board documentation for that configuration. Account for the M.2 and SATA Express bandwidth sharing if you intend to use both. These specifications come from the ASUS H97-Pro Gamer manual; the BIOS history is on the BIOS support page.

- CPU: Match the exact processor model to ASUS’s support table and check its minimum BIOS version.
- Memory: Choose non-ECC, unbuffered DDR3; stay within the board’s 32 GB maximum and check ASUS’s qualified vendor list.
- Storage: Confirm M.2 length and SATA or PCIe interface, and account for the shared bandwidth with SATA Express.
- BIOS: Check the installed version and the requirement for the specific CPU or storage device; do not treat an update as necessary without a compatibility reason.
For the board’s full specifications and official support materials, use the manual listing, CPU support table and BIOS listing.
