The handheld is listed at $179.99 on Atari’s page and includes more than 200 built-in games, a 7-inch display, and dedicated paddle, trak-ball, and keypad controls. Is the Atari Gamestation Go out yet?
Yes. My Arcade announced preorders on September 8, 2025, and said availability at select retailers would start in October 2025. Atari’s current product page lists the handheld as available and says it ships in 2–3 days; that estimate is subject to change and does not establish stock or delivery timing everywhere. Atari lists a price of $179.99. My Arcade’s launch announcement also gave a $179.99 MSRP. My Arcade’s launch announcement and Atari’s product page provide the dated announcement and current listing.
The earlier Q3 2025 wording was an early planned release window, not a future launch date. Check the relevant retailer’s checkout page for current price, shipping, and country-specific availability.
What is the Atari Gamestation Go?
It is a portable retro gaming console developed by My Arcade in collaboration with Atari. Its main distinction is a broad set of built-in physical controls: a paddle, trak-ball, directional pad, numeric keypad, shoulder bumpers, and A/B/X/Y buttons. SmartGlow lighting indicates which controls a game uses, helping players identify the intended input without relying on a conventional gamepad layout.

Atari describes the library as more than 200 built-in arcade and home-console games, including Atari titles and licensed games from PAC-MAN, Jaleco, and PIKO International. The manufacturer highlights five Atari Recharged titles and Balls of Steel. My Arcade’s launch announcement named Asteroids: Recharged, Missile Command: Recharged, Centipede: Recharged, Breakout: Recharged, Berzerk: Recharged, Balls of Steel Pinball, and PAC-MAN, alongside classics such as Asteroids, Breakout, Missile Command, Tempest, and Warlords. The full lineup is subject to the titles included in the device’s software.
What features and connections does it have?
- Display: Atari specifies a 7-inch full-color screen. WIRED described it as 720p in its 2025 review; Tom’s Hardware reported a 7-inch IPS panel in its November 2025 review.
- TV output: Atari says the HDMI output lets you play on a larger screen. WIRED reported HDMI output up to 1080p on its review unit.
- Wireless and ports: The manufacturer lists built-in Wi-Fi for updates and USB-C ports for external controllers. Atari includes an HDMI cable, USB charging cable, and USB AC adapter.
- Battery: Atari estimates 4–5 hours of playtime. Tom’s Hardware reported a 7,200mAh battery on its review unit; that capacity is a review-reported specification, not a figure on Atari’s product page.
- Other review-reported details: Tom’s Hardware reported a weight of 565g, dimensions of 269 × 133 × 26mm (with additional paddle protrusion), a microSD slot, headphone jack, stereo speakers, and a Linux-derived operating system. It said processor, RAM, and internal storage specifications were unknown.
Can you add games?
Atari’s product page confirms more than 200 built-in games, but does not promise additional game purchases, cartridge support, or a storefront. Tom’s Hardware reported a microSD slot and game expansion capability in its November 2025 review. That review finding should not be treated as a manufacturer promise about which games or formats can be added. If expandable storage matters to you, check the current device documentation and supported formats before buying.

What did reviewers say about the controls and gameplay?
Tom’s Hardware’s November 22, 2025 review praised the range of physical controls and the game selection, while noting that controller configuration options were lacking. Its reviewer also criticized control feel, scaling or rendering in some games, duplicate titles, and value at roughly $180. Mark Tyson’s verdict was that the Go “works as intended” but that its paddle and trackball would benefit from user-configuration options. These are observations from that review unit and date.
WIRED rated the Go 6/10 in its 2025 review. It described the paddle as stiff and the trackball as twitchy, and noted inconsistent presentation in some vector games, Wi-Fi credentials not being remembered, possible input lag depending on the game, and concerns about casing and button quality. WIRED also reported that Atari 7800 games did not launch on its unit at the time. A My Arcade spokesperson told the publication that firmware update development was in progress, but the report did not give a release date. The reviews are dated snapshots; they do not establish whether later firmware has addressed those issues.

Is the Atari Gamestation Go worth $179.99?
It is most compelling for someone who wants a ready-to-play licensed retro library and specifically values having a paddle, trak-ball, and keypad built into one portable device. Those controls give games designed around them a more natural physical input than a standard handheld layout can provide.
The trade-off is that this is a specialized retro console, not a general-purpose handheld PC. Reviewers raised concerns about control configuration and feel, screen rendering, ergonomics, and some game compatibility on their units. Whether it is worth Atari’s listed $179.99 depends on how much you value its included library and unusual controls compared with a more conventional handheld. Atari’s listing and independent review findings answer different questions: the listing states the manufacturer’s features and price, while reviews describe particular units and experiences.
