What macOS Sequoia 15.2 added
Apple’s macOS Sequoia 15 release notes describe 15.2 as adding Image Playground and ChatGPT support in Siri and Writing Tools, along with Photos and Safari enhancements, other features, bug fixes, and security updates. Apple announced the free update on December 11, 2024, alongside iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 in its December 11 announcement.
Image Playground: generate images from ideas
Image Playground lets users create playful images from concepts, written descriptions, and people in their photo library. Apple’s announcement describes concepts such as themes, costumes, accessories, and places. Users can preview ideas and choose Animation or Illustration styles.
The feature was available as a dedicated app and integrated into Messages and apps such as Freeform and Keynote. Apple’s release notes also list creation in third-party apps and say the Image Playground library syncs across devices through iCloud.

ChatGPT in Siri and Writing Tools
With 15.2, users could ask Siri to pass a request to ChatGPT or use ChatGPT from Writing Tools. Writing Tools’ Compose option can create content from scratch. ChatGPT access is optional; using Siri or Writing Tools does not mean every request is automatically sent to it.
Apple’s June 2024 integration announcement says Siri asks before sending questions, documents, or photos to ChatGPT. Apple’s 15.2 release notes say a ChatGPT account is not required. Apple says requests in the no-account flow are anonymous and are not used to train OpenAI’s models. If a user signs in, OpenAI’s data policies apply instead.

Which Macs could use Apple Intelligence?
For the December 2024 release, Apple said Apple Intelligence on Mac was available on a Mac with M1 or later. Installing macOS Sequoia 15.2 alone does not make these Apple Intelligence features available on every Mac running Sequoia; the Mac must meet Apple’s hardware requirement, and supported language and settings also matter.
Apple’s December announcement said localized English support was expanding to Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the U.K., in addition to the U.S. It also said compatible Mac users in the EU could access Apple Intelligence with supported settings and languages. Those are release-era statements, not a complete guide to present-day availability, which may change.

Photos, Safari, bug fixes, and security updates
Apple lists enhancements to Photos and Safari as part of 15.2, as well as other features and bug fixes. Its release notes also confirm that the update included security updates, but the cited 15.2 summary does not identify specific vulnerabilities or patches. It therefore does not support attributing a particular CVE or security fix to this release.
