Microsoft’s Windows 11 version 24H2 supported Intel processor list includes 8th-, 9th- and 10th-generation Core processor series. The list is framed around CPUs that OEMs may use in new Windows 11 devices; it does not by itself guarantee support for every individual processor or existing PC.

What Microsoft’s 24H2 list includes

Microsoft’s Windows 11 version 24H2 supported Intel processors page lists 8th-generation Core i3, i5, i7, i9 and Core m processor series; 9th-generation Core i3, i5, i7 and i9 series; and 10th-generation Core i3, i5, i7 and i9 series. The claim that these generations are absent from that list is therefore incorrect.

Microsoft’s editor’s note says the page was updated February 27, 2025, and is continually updated. The same generations also appear on Microsoft’s general Windows 11 Intel processor list and its Windows 11 version 25H2 list. For a particular Windows release, use its version-specific page.

What the OEM wording means

The 24H2 page says, “OEMs may use the following CPUs for new Windows 11 devices.” It describes processor eligibility for new devices and also sets driver requirements for those devices. Microsoft calls the listed models a “minimum floor for the supported processor generations” up through the latest processors available when the page was published.

This scope matters: the page is not a blanket certification of every PC already in use. Its entries identify processor series, not a guarantee that every SKU in a generation, motherboard, firmware configuration or complete computer will be supported. Microsoft advises readers to contact their hardware vendors for specific support details.

How to check an existing PC

  1. Find the exact CPU model. In Windows, open Settings > System > About and check the processor details. Record the full model name, not just its generation.
  2. Check the relevant Microsoft list. Use the Windows 11 release-specific processor page, then look for the exact model or series. A generation-level match is useful, but is not a device-specific approval.
  3. Check the PC maker’s support information. Consult the computer manufacturer’s documentation for your exact model and Windows 11 version, including its driver and firmware guidance. Microsoft points users to hardware vendors for these specifics.

A Microsoft Q&A thread records the question “Does windows 11 2024H2 supports intel Gen8/Gen9/Gen 10 CPU ?” Its responses are community discussion, not Microsoft’s authoritative compatibility policy; the official processor page is the better source for what Microsoft lists.
