Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo enable overclocking in Alienware Command Center (AWCC), first confirm that your exact Alienware model and configuration support it. AWCC 5.x puts overclock controls in Fusion; AWCC 6.x uses Performance view and, on supported components, Advanced view. Change only the settings your system exposes, run Test & Save, and save only after reviewing the test result.
Before you change overclock settings
Overclocking controls are not available on every Alienware computer. Dell says support can depend on the system’s factory configuration, including its processor, memory, and cooling solution. Check the manual or support page for your exact model rather than assuming that another Alienware system’s options will appear on yours. See Dell’s Alienware and Dell Gaming Computer Overclocking guidance.
- Identify your model and configuration. Use the model-specific Dell documentation to confirm whether overclocking is supported and which components can be adjusted.
- Check your AWCC version. Dell directs users to check Alienware Command Center Package Manager in Windows’ installed-programs list. AWCC 5.x and 6.x have different control locations.
- Use the controls shown for your system. Labels and adjustable settings vary by model and component. A missing slider or menu is not evidence that installing a different AWCC version will make overclocking available.
Enable overclocking in AWCC 6.x
In AWCC 6.x, custom overclocking is configured as a thermal preset in Performance view. Dell’s AWCC 6.x guide specifies that the custom preset can be configured and applied only in system mode.
- Open AWCC and switch to Performance view. Make sure the computer is in system mode.
- Open Advanced view if it is available for the component you want to configure. Advanced settings appear only for components that support them.
- Adjust only the supported settings displayed for your system.
- Select Test & Save and let AWCC test the configuration.
- After the test, select Save to apply the configuration or Cancel to return to editing. Select Revert to remove the changes.
If Performance view does not offer an overclocking preset or the relevant advanced settings, consult the documentation for your computer. AWCC cannot add factory support that the system does not have.

Enable overclocking in AWCC 5.x
AWCC 5.x places overclocking controls in Fusion. The exact options depend on the computer and its supported components. Dell’s AWCC 5.x guide describes the profile workflow.
- Open AWCC, go to Fusion, and open its overclocking controls.
- Create a new overclock profile and give it a name.
- Set the CPU, GPU, and memory options that are available for your system. Depending on the component and computer, the interface may expose CPU frequency, voltage, or voltage offset, and GPU power limit, thermal limit, core clock, or memory clock.
- Select Test & Save and wait for the test to finish.
- If the test succeeds, save the profile. If it fails, AWCC may offer recommended settings; review them and save only if you want to use them.
- Select the saved profile to activate it.
Overclocking profiles versus performance presets
A high-performance preset is not necessarily a custom overclock. Dell distinguishes the AWCC 6.x Overdrive preset, intended for factory-supported overclocking platforms, from Max, which can raise power levels on capable hardware even on systems without overclocking support. Preset names, behavior, and availability depend on the device; consult the AWCC 6.x Performance guide for the relevant controls.

Higher performance settings can use more energy and produce more heat and fan noise. Compare presets using the options and behavior documented for your model, rather than assuming a particular preset will produce the same result on every Alienware system.

Changing frequency or voltage can reduce stability or performance, damage components, or shorten their useful life. Dell also warns that warranty coverage may not apply if a processor is operated beyond its specifications. Overclocking may provide no improvement if the thermal environment cannot dissipate the additional heat or power; Dell does not establish a general performance-gain figure that applies to all configurations. Read Dell’s overclocking guidance before making changes.

- Blend into any environment: Activate Stealth Mode with F7 to turn AlienFX RGB keyboard lighting to white and switch performance to Quiet Mode for a more subtle, covert experience*. *Quiet mode lowers noise produced by your system's cooling fans when possible. While your computer's performance might be slightly impacted, this option may also reduce both CPU and GPU power consumptions.
- Keep the computer’s vents clear.
- Use a laptop on a hard, flat surface.
- For extended gaming sessions, Dell suggests considering a cooling pad. It is optional, not a requirement for using AWCC.
If overclocking changes cause problems, Dell documents restoring BIOS/UEFI factory defaults as a recovery option. The steps it gives are to press F2 during startup to enter BIOS, press F9 to load defaults, then press F10 to save and exit. Key behavior can vary by system, so check your computer’s manual before using this recovery method.
