Samsung announced the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra on January 22, 2025, and U.S. preorders opened that day. General availability began February 7, 2025, in the U.S. and globally. These are past launch dates; the launch promotions below are not current offers.
When did the Galaxy S25 series come out?
Samsung announced the original Galaxy S25 lineup at Galaxy Unpacked on January 22, 2025. The Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra became generally available on February 7, 2025. Samsung’s U.S. announcement gives those dates for the U.S. launch, while its global announcement also identifies February 7 as the series’ broad availability date.

When did preorders open, and where?
U.S. preorders opened on January 22, 2025, the day of the announcement. Samsung listed Amazon, Best Buy, Samsung.com, and nationwide carriers as preorder channels. The dates and channels describe the original U.S. launch, not current stock or offers.

Samsung’s U.S. launch announcement said eligible customers who had reserved could apply a $50 Samsung Credit and receive up to $1,250 in eligible trade-in savings when preordering at Samsung.com. These were launch-era terms, not a statement of active promotions today. Check the current listing and terms for your region before buying.

Which phones were in the original launch?
The January launch comprised three models: Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. Samsung later added the Galaxy S25 Edge to the broader family: Samsung Canada dates its preorders to May 12, 2025, and availability to May 30, 2025. The Edge was not part of the original January announcement.

Launch configurations, colors, and price
Samsung’s launch materials listed these storage configurations, with options subject to market variation:

Display measurements are diagonal full-rectangle figures; the viewable area is smaller because of rounded corners and the camera opening. Samsung listed the U.S. launch starting price for the S25 Ultra as $1,299.99. That is a dated U.S. launch price, not a current quote or a price for other regions.

At launch, the S25 and S25+ were listed in Navy, Silver Shadow, Icyblue, and Mint, with Blueblack, Coralred, and Pinkgold exclusive to Samsung.com. The Ultra was listed in Titanium Silverblue, Titanium Black, Titanium Whitesilver, and Titanium Gray, with Titanium Pinkgold, Titanium Jetblack, and Titanium Jadegreen exclusive to Samsung.com. Samsung noted that color availability could vary by market and carrier, so current inventory should be checked with the seller.

How do the three models differ?
The most straightforward launch-spec distinctions are screen size, battery capacity, and the Ultra’s camera hardware:
- Galaxy S25: 6.2-inch display and 4,000mAh typical battery.
- Galaxy S25+: 6.7-inch display and 4,900mAh typical battery.
- Galaxy S25 Ultra: 6.9-inch display and 5,000mAh typical battery; its launch specification includes a 200MP main camera and a 50MP ultrawide camera.
These are Samsung’s published launch specifications, not independent test results. Choose between models based on preferred size, camera needs, and the price and configuration available in your market.

What did Samsung promise for software support?
Samsung stated that the S25 series would receive seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from global launch. Samsung’s footnote says update timing may vary by model, carrier, and market; the stated commitment should not be read as a guarantee that every update arrives everywhere at the same time.
Samsung also promoted Galaxy AI, Circle to Search, Gemini integration, and One UI 7 features at launch. Feature availability can vary by country, language, model, app, and network. The launch materials described six months of Gemini Advanced and 2TB of cloud storage at no extra cost as a bundled benefit at that time; do not assume it is included with a purchase now.

Do you need a new charger?
Samsung said the 45W USB-C adapter was sold separately and recommended 25W charging for the Galaxy S25 and 45W for the S25+ and S25 Ultra. That is model-specific guidance, not a reason every buyer needs to purchase another adapter; check the charger you already own and the phone’s charging requirements.
