Nextdoor’s self-serve Ads Manager lets businesses create neighborhood-focused campaigns, choose an objective and audience, set a budget and schedule, and track delivery and performance. The product’s history spans two milestones: Nextdoor introduced self-serve ads for small and medium-sized businesses in the U.S. in 2022, then announced a broader Ads Manager rollout in 2023. Availability and campaign options vary by market, so check the live account and local guidance before setting up an ad.

What is Nextdoor Ads Manager?

Nextdoor Ads Manager is Nextdoor’s platform for creating and managing paid advertising campaigns. For a local business, its main appeal is the ability to focus advertising on nearby communities and people in a service area rather than treating an entire city or country as one audience.

Nextdoor’s U.S. local-business guide describes example campaign goals including increasing website visits, promoting a sale or discount, and getting more messages. Current U.S. setup guidance describes a broader campaign workflow: choose an objective, placements, audience, bid, daily budget, duration, and delivery schedule; prepare the ad’s creative and copy; review and publish it; then monitor status, performance, spend, and reporting in the dashboard. See Nextdoor’s current U.S. campaign setup guidance and its local-business advertising guide.

How Nextdoor’s ad platform developed

2022: Self-serve ads for U.S. small businesses

On April 7, 2022, Nextdoor announced Nextdoor Ads as an expansion of its self-serve campaign-management platform for small and medium-sized businesses. The company described a guided process for selecting a goal, building an ad, choosing an audience, setting a daily budget and campaign duration, publishing, and reviewing performance on a dashboard. The announcement said a full U.S. launch was expected in the coming weeks; that was a plan stated at the time, not a current availability guarantee. Read the April 2022 announcement.

2023: A broader Ads Manager rollout

On June 14, 2023, Nextdoor announced a unified Nextdoor Ads Manager. It said the product would first be available to mid-market advertisers, followed by a phased expansion to agencies and small and medium-sized businesses. The announcement emphasized targeting neighborhoods and communities within a business’s service areas. Read the June 2023 rollout announcement.

How to create a campaign

The following sequence reflects Nextdoor’s current U.S. setup guidance. Labels, eligibility, and available settings may differ by market or change over time.

Rank #2
  1. Sign up through Ads Manager. Start from Nextdoor’s Ads Manager entry point for your market and follow the business account setup steps.
  2. Choose a campaign objective. Select the result you want, such as website visits, promotion of an offer, or customer messages, where those options are available.
  3. Set placements and audience. Choose the available ad placements and define the audience around the locations your business serves. Nextdoor’s guides describe audience selection around a business; exact targeting controls depend on the account and market.
  4. Set bid, budget, duration, and delivery schedule. Choose the controls shown in your account and make sure the campaign dates and daily spend suit your business.
  5. Prepare the ad. Add the creative and copy, then review how the ad will appear and whether its message matches the selected objective and audience.
  6. Submit for review and publish. Once the campaign is ready, submit it through the account workflow. Nextdoor’s U.S. small-business guide says ads are submitted for review.
  7. Monitor results and billing. Use the dashboard to check campaign status, performance, spend, and reports. Nextdoor’s current U.S. setup guide says payment is charged automatically when the billing threshold is reached or on the monthly billing date, whichever comes first; confirm the applicable terms in your live account.

What does it cost to advertise on Nextdoor?

Nextdoor’s materials cited here do not establish one universal current minimum budget or price. The U.S. setup guidance describes setting a daily budget, while the U.K. launch announcement said businesses could start spending at a few pounds. That U.K. statement was made on December 18, 2025; it is not a verified minimum for every advertiser or a current quote. Review the budget and billing details displayed for your market before publishing.

Where is self-serve advertising available?

Nextdoor’s announcements document expansion over time, but they do not establish a complete current country-by-country eligibility list. The milestones below are dated company announcements, not a guarantee that every business in each country can sign up today or access identical features.

How to assess whether it fits your business

Nextdoor may be worth considering if your customers are concentrated in identifiable neighborhoods and the campaign goal matches what the account can measure. Before committing budget, check the practical fit:

  • Used Book in Good Condition
  • Service area: Can you define a useful audience around the places you actually serve?
  • Objective: Does the available campaign objective correspond to an outcome you can evaluate, such as visits, inquiries, or responses to an offer?
  • Creative and follow-up: Can you provide a clear local offer or message and respond promptly if the campaign generates inquiries?
  • Budget control: Are the displayed daily budget, campaign duration, and billing rules acceptable for a test?
  • Measurement: Can you distinguish campaign-driven activity from other business traffic or inquiries? The platform dashboard provides reporting, but a business should decide what outcome counts as success before launch.

Nextdoor’s launch materials include company audience statistics and advertiser testimonials, but these do not establish typical campaign results. For example, the April 2022 release quoted Bill Evans, owner of Flowing Current Electric, saying that about 50–60 percent of his customers came through Nextdoor. That is one advertiser’s testimonial, not independently verified evidence of what another business should expect. The same caution applies to company-reported audience figures in launch announcements.
