Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThere is no evidence in the sources reviewed that an NVIDIA GPU driver bug exposed Chrome Incognito history or identified porn browsing. Two separate issues are relevant: GPU.zip research describes a cross-origin attack that can infer information from pixels being rendered in Chrome, while NVIDIA separately disclosed a Windows driver information-disclosure vulnerability in June 2024. The available sources do not show that the NVIDIA advisory was about GPU.zip or fixed it.
What Incognito protects—and what it does not
The Chromium Project says: “When in Incognito mode, Chrome does not store any new history, cookies, or other state in non-volatile storage.” In practical terms, Incognito is intended to limit what Chrome saves locally after a private session. It is not a promise that nobody can observe activity while a page is open, nor a guarantee against every inference involving the browser, operating system, or hardware. Read the Chrome Security FAQ.
Chromium also says privacy issues such as information leaking from Incognito are treated as functional privacy bugs, rather than security vulnerabilities covered by its security rewards program. That is Chromium’s classification policy; it does not establish that any particular privacy issue is harmless, or determine the severity of GPU.zip.
What GPU.zip research says
The GPU.zip paper describes a side channel involving hardware-based graphical data compression and reports an end-to-end cross-origin pixel-stealing attack in Chrome. That is evidence of research into inferring information from rendered pixels across origins. It is not evidence, in the source available here, that researchers recovered Incognito browsing history or identified porn browsing. Read the GPU.zip paper.

- AI Performance: 767 AI TOPS
- OC mode: 2632 MHz (OC mode)/ 2602 MHz (Default mode)
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
These are different claims: an attack that may infer information from pixels while a page is rendered is not the same as retrieving Chrome’s locally stored history. The reviewed source does not establish that the specific headline scenario was demonstrated.
What NVIDIA disclosed in June 2024
NVIDIA’s June 6, 2024 GPU Display Driver security bulletin lists CVE-2024-0089 for Windows. The bulletin describes information from a previous client or another process being disclosed. This is a separately documented driver vulnerability; the bulletin does not identify it as GPU.zip or say that its update fixes the GPU.zip technique. Read NVIDIA’s June 2024 driver bulletin.

- WINDFORCE cooling system
NVIDIA’s bulletin says to install the software update through NVIDIA Driver Downloads; vGPU software and Cloud Gaming have separate licensing-portal instructions. Follow the guidance in the bulletin that applies to your product rather than assuming this CVE or its update corresponds to the GPU.zip research.

- Keep Chrome current and install applicable NVIDIA driver security updates through NVIDIA’s official channels.
- Check NVIDIA’s product security page and the bulletin for your hardware and software for current update or mitigation guidance. The reviewed sources do not establish a specific driver version that fixes GPU.zip. NVIDIA Product Security.
- If you can reproduce a suspected NVIDIA product vulnerability, NVIDIA directs reporters to its Vulnerability Disclosure Program or PSIRT. Include the product and driver name and version, vulnerability type, reproduction steps, any proof of concept, and potential impact. Report a security vulnerability to NVIDIA.
These steps are general security hygiene, not a confirmed mitigation for the particular GPU.zip technique. The sources reviewed do not establish whether a specific current driver or browser update prevents it.
