In an early-2026 interview with CRN, Arrow Electronics executive Eric Nowak said suppliers were struggling to maintain lead times and build products, while Arrow’s Arrow Intelligent Solutions manufacturing business was seeing shortages of memory and SSDs. His response was to place orders early and time them carefully—but his comments describe conditions at the time of the interview, not a verified picture of the market today.
What Nowak said about memory and SSD supply
Nowak, president of Arrow Electronics’ global enterprise computing solutions business, told CRN that suppliers were finding it increasingly difficult to maintain lead times and build products. He said Arrow had not yet seen the effects broadly across its enterprise customers, but shortages were affecting Arrow Intelligent Solutions (AIS), its manufacturing business.
For AIS disk and memory orders, Nowak described providers that were not giving lead times. Arrow took goods when they became available, and Arrow and its customers were placing orders in advance. He expected the situation to worsen over the year, but that was his expectation during the interview, which CRN situated in early 2026. It is not evidence of what happened afterward or of current supply conditions.
On hard drives, CRN’s interviewer raised a claim about Western Digital having sold capacity for the year and the next. Nowak responded that some suppliers had already allocated their supply for the year. That answer should not be read as confirmation of the interviewer’s specific Western Digital premise or as a claim about every supplier.

Why Arrow shortened proposal validity
Nowak said Arrow’s proposals were valid for one week rather than one month at the time of the interview. He linked the shorter window to price exposure and the difficulty of knowing when products could be made and supplied. The 30-day comparison came from CRN’s interviewer; one week was Nowak’s description of Arrow’s proposals, not a market-wide rule.
For customers, the practical implication is that a quote may no longer be a dependable price reference for as long as it once was when availability and input costs are uncertain. A buyer considering a proposal should check its expiration date and clarify whether price, quantity, or delivery timing can change before an order is accepted.

What “the right momentum” means in ordering
Nowak characterized Arrow’s approach as making the right choices about when to place orders. In the interview, the phrase referred to balancing uncertain supply against expected demand: waiting for clearer lead times could mean missing available stock, while ordering ahead commits a business before it knows exactly when goods will arrive.
His account points to several distinct procurement considerations rather than a single blanket instruction:

These are the trade-offs described by Nowak, not a universal purchasing recommendation. The interview provides no market-wide shortage measure or independent data with which to quantify the extent of constrained supply.
How Arrow’s enterprise business fits into the picture
Nowak described Arrow’s enterprise computing business as 75 percent cloud services and software and 25 percent hardware, and said it did not sell PCs. Those are his interview figures and description, not independently audited segment data.

He also said Arrow’s cloud business had grown “30 percent-plus every year for years and years.” The interview does not define the measurement period or calculation method, so the figure should be understood as Nowak’s characterization rather than an independently verified growth series.
Why cloud and AI still involve infrastructure
Nowak’s argument was that growth in cloud and AI does not eliminate demand for physical infrastructure. He described cloud adoption as hybrid, with workloads spanning cloud and on-premises environments, and said AI deployments can require infrastructure upgrades and storage. He presented hybrid cloud and AI as sources of infrastructure growth from Arrow’s perspective; the interview does not independently measure that demand.

What Arrow says it provides channel partners
Nowak described Arrow’s platform as helping partners manage cloud subscriptions and related work, including deployment, management and orchestration. He said Arrow brings managed-services partners onto the platform and is developing AI offerings and agentic capabilities so partners do not need to build every solution themselves. He also identified migration work and AI talent as challenges partners face. These are descriptions of Arrow’s services and positioning from its executive, not a third-party evaluation of the platform.
What the interview said about Arrow’s CEO search
During the interview, Nowak said Arrow was interviewing and selecting candidates to replace former CEO Sean Kerins and had no date in mind. Leadership information subsequently published by Arrow provides a dated update: the company’s April 15, 2026 fact sheet lists William F. Austen as interim president and CEO and Nowak as president of global enterprise computing solutions. A later CRN report quotes Austen saying the permanent CEO search was still taking time. These later sources contextualize the interview; they do not turn its supply remarks into current market data.
Source and timing
CRN places the interview in early 2026, following the GTDC Summit in Oceanside, California, but the accessible article text does not establish an exact publication date. The supply, quote-validity and business-mix statements above are attributed to Nowak as reported by CRN. No independent market shortage statistic or component specification is established by the cited material.
