What happens to each type of PlayStation Plus game?
The outcome depends on how you got the content. Adding a game to your library through a subscription offer is different from buying it or accessing it through a rotating catalog.

PlayStation’s US FAQ describes subscription games as yours “for as long as you remain an active member.” Its [PlayStation Plus overview] also notes that some Game Catalog and Classics Catalog titles have end dates.
Monthly games: adding one to your library is not buying it
Claim monthly games in the offer period to associate them with your account. That does not convert them into permanent purchases. PlayStation says subscription-provided downloads, including monthly games, are unavailable after the membership ends. You can play them again if you resume an eligible membership, provided the game entitlement is still available to your account.

Catalog games can leave while you are still subscribed
Game Catalog access is included with Extra and higher tiers; Classics Catalog access is included with Premium, subject to the current plan and regional availability. These are subscription libraries, not a guarantee that every title will remain available for the length of your membership. PlayStation announces catalog end dates, so a game may become unavailable even if your subscription is active. Check the [US PlayStation Plus games page] for current catalog titles and availability.
Canceling renewal is not the same as losing access
Turning off renewal stops the next charge; it does not end the current paid period. PlayStation Support’s cancellation guidance says benefits continue until the subscription period ends. The Ireland support page explains this at [How to cancel PlayStation Plus]. The precise terms may differ by territory, so check your local PlayStation support information.

What happens to DLC, online storage, and multiplayer?
DLC and add-ons
PlayStation says associated DLC and add-ons can also become inaccessible when a subscription ends or when the base game leaves the service. If you later resubscribe or buy the base game, add-ons you purchased can be used again with it.
Online storage and multiplayer
PlayStation Plus benefits also include online storage and online multiplayer access, which end with the membership. The US support page lists 100 GB of cloud storage for each of its three membership plans, but it does not state how long saved data is retained after expiry. Do not treat that allowance as a promise that cloud saves remain available indefinitely. See [PlayStation Plus support] for the US service information.

How to check why a game is unavailable
- Check how you obtained it. A monthly claim, a catalog download, a separate purchase, and a redeemed pack have different access rules.
- Check your membership status and tier. Monthly games require an active membership; catalog access also depends on having the tier that includes that catalog.
- For a catalog title, check whether it has left the service. If it has been removed, resubscribing does not by itself restore access.
- For DLC, verify the base game is accessible. Subscription expiry or catalog removal can affect add-ons associated with the base game.
- If you canceled renewal, check the paid-through date. Access ordinarily continues until that date, rather than stopping when renewal is canceled.
