To change irrelevant game recommendations in Google Play, open Play Store → profile picture → Personalization in Play. Turn off Personalize Play to stop Play using Google Account information for personalization, or leave it on and adjust the specific signals it uses. Deleting Play History can remove saved activity, but Google does not promise a one-tap recommendation reset or a fixed time for the feed to change.
Choose how much personalization to change
The right control depends on whether you want to remove one type of signal, clear saved Play activity, or stop Play using Google Account information for personalization altogether.

Turn off Google Account-based Play personalization
- Open the Google Play Store app on your Android device.
- Tap your profile picture.
- Tap Personalization in Play.
- Switch off Personalize Play.
This is the broadest Play-focused personalization control. With it off, Play does not use Google Account information for personalization, including Play History and acquired Play items. Play may still tailor what you see based on your device, country, and installed apps. Google notes that recommendations may be less relevant when personalization is off or history is not used. Keep personalization on but narrow its inputs
If you want tailored recommendations but suspect a particular signal is making them irrelevant, leave Personalize Play on and review the more specific settings instead.

- Go to Play Store → profile picture → Personalization in Play.
- Open Other Play personalization options.
- Review the device-details setting and turn off device-details-based personalization if you do not want Play to use those details.
- Under Your Play content, adjust personalization for particular items that are available there.
Changes to Play content personalization may take up to 24 hours to take effect, according to Google. That timing applies to content-setting changes; it is not a stated refresh deadline for every recommendation surface. Google Play Help: Personalization in Play.
Review or delete Play History
Play History is not limited to searches. It can include app usage, views of app detail pages, and interactions with offers. You can stop saving new Play History activity, remove selected past events, or set automatic deletion.

Turn Play History off or limit what is saved
- Open the Play Store and tap your profile picture.
- Tap Personalization in Play, then Play History.
- Turn off Google Play History to stop new activity from being saved to your account’s Play History.
- If you keep the main history setting on, review the separate options for including activity on Google Play and app usage.
Turning off Play History does not mean Google stops collecting or processing all data. Google says some data is still collected and processed for purposes described in its Privacy Policy. Google Play Help: Personalization in Play and Google Play Help: Manage your Play History.
Delete events or set automatic deletion
In the Play History view, you can inspect events, search for specific events, delete individual events, or delete all Play History. Google Play Help also lists automatic deletion choices of 3, 18, or 36 months. These are retention settings, not estimates of how quickly recommendations will change. Consider the broader Web & App Activity setting
Google’s app-discovery documentation points to Web & App Activity as a way to stop personalization using order history and Google activity. This is a wider account-level change than the Play controls above and can affect your experience in other Google services. Use it only if you want to change that broader activity setting, not just tune Play recommendations. Google Play: App discovery and ranking.
Keep Play Games profile data separate
Play Games profile data and Play History are different. Deleting Play Games profile data does not delete Play History, and deleting Play History does not remove all Play Games profile activity or stats. If you want to manage both, use the separate controls for each. Google Play Help: Delete your Play Games profile and data.

What a “reset” can—and cannot—do
These settings let you change or remove some of the signals used for personalization; they do not constitute a documented one-tap reset for game recommendations. Google has not specified a guaranteed improvement, a precise ranking model for an individual account, or a fixed refresh interval after history is deleted. After changing a setting, check Play again later, but do not treat the up-to-24-hour window for content-personalization changes as a promise that the whole feed will refresh by then.
