What PlayStation has confirmed about GTA 6 on PS5 and PS5 Pro
PlayStation’s official GTA VI game page lists both PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro as supported platforms and gives a release date of November 19, 2026. Release dates can change, so check the page for the latest listing.

The PlayStation Store listing marks the PS5 product “PS5 Pro Enhanced.” That confirms the designation, but the listing does not explain the specific enhancement in the material reviewed. It does not state a frame rate, resolution, graphics mode, or comparison with the standard PS5.
What “PS5 Pro Enhanced” does—and does not—tell you
The designation is an official signal that the game is marked as enhanced for PS5 Pro. Without a published explanation for GTA VI, however, it does not establish whether the benefit is higher frame rates, sharper image quality, improved effects, or another change. No official base-PS5-versus-Pro performance comparison was found in the sources reviewed.

Rockstar’s announcement of its extended look at the game says the footage was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5. Rockstar does not identify the console as a base PS5 or PS5 Pro, and the announcement does not provide a frame-rate or graphics-mode specification. It therefore cannot be used to establish how the two consoles compare.
Does GTA 6 use Sony’s newer QSSR upscaling?
That has not been established. A TechRadar report about Sony’s QSSR technology discussed its arrival in other named games and said it was unclear whether Rockstar planned to use it in GTA VI. Do not assume QSSR support based on the PS5 Pro Enhanced label.
Should you upgrade to PS5 Pro for GTA 6?
If GTA VI is your only reason to upgrade
Wait for Rockstar or Sony to publish specific technical details, then look for independent testing after release. The current official designation does not answer whether the Pro delivers a frame-rate or resolution improvement large enough to justify buying a console for this game alone.

If you already want a PS5 Pro for other reasons
GTA VI’s enhanced designation is relevant to your decision, but treat the exact benefit as unspecified until PlayStation or Rockstar explains it. Your decision can account for the broader PS5 Pro library and features you value without assuming a particular GTA VI performance mode.
What to look for in a performance announcement
- Whether GTA VI offers separate performance and visual-quality modes on either console.
- The target and observed frame rates, including whether they are stable during demanding gameplay.
- The resolution and any upscaling method used on each console.
- Whether the details apply to the base PS5, PS5 Pro, or both, and whether they vary by display or game mode.
Until those details are published, no sourced GTA VI frame-rate, resolution, or comparative performance figure supports a firm claim that the PS5 Pro runs the game better.
